Shakespeare® Agility® Casting Rod

Great rods. We bought three of these for my dad specifically for carp fishing in combination with Zebco 888s. The colors go perfectly with each other, but more importantly, the quality... Notice how the eyes of the rods are built. The rods has a perfect amount of flex for large carp / catfish if anyone is wondering about that. One of the most unique things about them is that they are short rods, yet break down into two pieces, making them extremely versatile. You can carry them easily in the front or back of your truck or car without having to leave your expensive fishing equipment in the bed of a truck. This is great for peace of mind when stopping at a grocery store, tackle shop, or gas station for an extended period of time. My father says that out of all the other equipment he's used for the last 30 years, including the European style rigs, these are his favorites.

I catch Tuna, Dorado and Sailfish on these rods and they are excellent. Strong enough for the job but light enough to enjoy the catch. They are holding up in salt water very well. Only rods I've found that will do the job and still split in half to take on the airplane in carry on. Awesome!

I purchased this just to try it out in our hawaiian waters. I've been a fan of the gx2 series and I have several uglystiks and custom rods to compare it to. First off it's an uglystik, the rod is 10'-6"MH and is on the soft side as most uglysitks are in my opinion. Being a salmon steelhead rod I thought it would be much stiffer, compared to my gx2 elite 9' it's much softer. Compared to a similar spec'd talon blank or even against an off the shelf rod like the Tica salmon steelhead it's really noodle like . But it casts well and with 3/4-1 oz lead I can really get some distance on it.It has a slow action and I swear it starts to bend from the reel seat up! So far I've pulled up several toau(black tail snapper) in the 3lb range with ease. I've also landed a few trevally in the 4-6lb range. I'm targeting mostly dinner fare in the 1-5lb range and in our hawaiian terms this is my whipping rod for most small game.Not too heavy, fit and finish was ok, on my rod there was flex coat dripped down the sides of the rod near the guides in a couple of places. Cork handle was nice, reel seat was ok and tight. I like the lenght(10'-6") for casting off of our cliffy areas and the rod brought most fish up 10-15' foot shoreline pretty well. I wish they made this in a spinning version and I believe I may rewrap this into a spinning rod to better suit my style.Again I like how the GX2 looks and feels, a little more backbone and a faster taper would make this my favorite cheap rod. I'm not afraid to lay this down on the rocks or loan it a friend. I still prefer the GX2 elite 9' XH over this but the added length is nice. It's currently paired with a shimano spheros 5000 and 15lb stren catfish mono. I like it, the rod does what I need it to do and for $69 you can't really complain too much about it, it's worth the money.

Bought this rod to use as a travel rod for saltwater fishing. I matched it up with the new Penn US113N (Baja Special) for work in the Sea of Cortez. Very happy with the strength of this rod and it's ability to travel. We landed (and released) three Sailfish with this outfit ranging from 80 lbs to 100lbs. For the price this can't be beat.

Rod is not really a medium heavy, more like medium. Also when I received it the handle section had poked a hole and had pushed through the box subsequently bending a line guide. I bent it back with no damage however no one should ever have to fix a new product before using it. As stated from other customers the rod could have been packaged more durable. I still like the look and feel and durability of the rod itself thus the three stars for the overall rating

Great rod. Shipping box was damaged but the rod was fine. Fast shipping. Can't wait to take it out and get a few chromes with it

Bought my first ugly stik way back in 1982 I had brtoken every other rod I bought throwing them into the back of the pick up with my 9 ft boat and trolling motor man at the store said if you break this one I will double your money backI had that rod for 20 years before it finally deteriorated from age and constant abuseThis new tiger rod is a beast love en it just need a bigger reel now it is big water all the way but you can still feel every little biteDon't waste money on big names just buy the best for your money Ugly all the way

All three rods had non adjustable reel seats that were not aligned with the line guide eyes on the rods. One was off by 45 degrees rendering it unusable! Makes me believe they are selling items that should be listed as imperfect or manufacturer defects. Will not waste my time or money with this merchant again.

I payed for express shipping And received ONLY the Bottom half of the fishing rod. Furthermore it was not wrapped at all with anything so I’m very surprised the bottom half arrived in tact. I’m EXTREMELY dissatisfied, the fishing season is winding down and I’m afraid by the time I send it back and they ship me out another there may be very little time left for me to even use it this year. It’s be great if they could ship me out the TOP half of the rod (xheavy 9 foot 2 piece) as soon as humanly possibleEdit: I found another rod that looked like it would be stronger and have ordered it instead. Although amazon was in the process of sending me another one I decided to just ask for a refund instead because based on the appearance of the butt end of the rod in comparing it with some of my other rods I have serious doubts it will cast the 3 oz lures it advertises.

Nice rod but it took 3 rods to get one good one

I bought two of these - 8'6 and 10' - both for salmon fishing. The build quality disappointed me as both rods had the same issue - the sections do not fit each other well and when you "wobble" the rod you can even hear the butt of the top section hit the inner side surface of the bottom section. Kind of gives you unpleasant feeling of the whole thing being "non-monolithic". I managed to partially resolve the problem by removing excessive dry lacquer from the inside of the bottom section but the problem still persists no matter how tight I insert the top section.Also, the guides are not perfectly aligned.
