The mightly little shovel
This is a great little shovel. If it was a bit bigger, say 1 inch longer and 1 inch wider, would be about perfect. Shape cuts into soil and roots easily. Best for digging out perennials and small shrubs and dividing perennials. Not designed to move soil, so use another shovel to dig holes. Well made, best foot pads I have ever had. Heavy, but that helps pushing it into the soil.

My go-to spade
I love this spade. Perfect for working in a border. Seems to be very robust and opening a hole for bulb planting is easier with this than with a bulb planter. Goes in easier than a normal space because of the narrow width. Of all my vast spade collection this is the one I choose for planting and working in confined spaces. Wish I’d found this sooner.

Superior garden spade
This is a superior garden spade. It is perfect for transplanting and strong enough to pry out large stones in our rocky PA soil. I have been gardening for over forty years and it is the best tool I have ever owned.

Perfect size for transplanting. Cuts easily through roots--better than any specialized root-cutting spade. Strong for extreme leverage.

This is not an all carbon steel shovel
Great head design, however the product description never mentions that half of the shovel arm is wood. The wood was not solidly attached to the metal and began to pull away as soon as I tried to loosen a root ball. You'll notice the label on the top half of the shovel arm covers 99% of the wood so you cannot see it in the photos. Very deceptive. I'm returning it immediately.
