Nelstrops Plain Flour 16kg - for All Purposes

I bought this flour in desperation as I couldn't buy any in the supermarket. Even though it is not bread flour, I have been making delicious sourdough bread from it. You can grow the yeast yourself from the flour and filtered or bottled water. I have also made fantastic waffles, cakes etc. The flour is better quality I think than my usual supermarket purchases.

My decision to purchase this online was for a few reasons: unable to go to the shops due to the pandemic, using large quantities of flour and this brand being sent when I ordered a different one previously. This arrived promptly, the packing is sturdy enough that I do not have to decant it into a tub throughout the use; I roll down the top edge as the level drops and fold it over after use. From now on this will remain the flour I purchase for home use as it is suitable for my bread baking, pastry, crêpes and pasta needs.

I do a lot of baking and buying in bulk means I always have flour on hand when needed. I`m using this for all manner of baking/cooking from pastry to cakes (add baking powder) sauce thickening and bread making. Hasn`t been either lumpy or anything other than fresh....although I always sieve before use anyway.It gives good results in all uses so I`d definitely recommend and would buy again!

I bought this a few weeks ago when it was almost impossible to get flour on supermarket shelves anywhere. I've since shared with family members as I would never get through it all. I've made various cookies and cakes with it. Even made a loaf of bread with a plain flour recipe. The packaging is a bit fragile though.

Good for home use and general purposes but the flour is grey in comparison to other suppliers' - lower quality, which is reflected in the price. So, unsuitable for some kinds of bakery because makes the resulting products grey. Tastes OK.

Lovely creamy flour. So appreciated. I can continue to make my fruit cakes and pastry

Absolutely excellent buy. Great quality and good all round versatility. I've used this for everything during lockdown, from bread to Yorkshire pudding. Will definitely buy again. Superb.

Does just wht is is supposed to do, I have produced a range of scones from this excellent product.
