Autism Spectrum Disorder (revised): The Complete Guide to Understanding Autism

A must read for parents and caregivers!
This book has been a real eye-opener for me. As a parent just starting to navigate the twists and turns of the autism spectrum with my child, this book has become my go-to guide. You know how sometimes you pick up a guidebook and it's just... dry? Like you're trudging through a swamp of jargon and technical terms? That's not the case here. The author has a way of breaking down complex ideas and making them accessible. I didn't feel like I was studying for a medical exam—I felt like I was learning about my kid's world and how to support them. The book is stacked with info on all things Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). From early signs to diagnosis, from therapy options to future planning, it touches on everything without overwhelming you. Trust me, as a parent, you appreciate it when a book keeps it real without sending you into a worry spiral. What I really dug is how the book emphasizes the strengths of individuals with ASD. It's not about painting a picture of challenges and limitations; it's about understanding, supporting, and celebrating our kids for exactly who they are. It puts the 'person' first and the 'condition' second, and that's exactly how it should be.Another thing I appreciated was the practical advice. I didn't just walk away with a head full of new knowledge; I walked away with actionable steps to help my kiddo thrive. Stuff like strategies for communication, creating routines, and building social skills, all served up in a way that made me think, "Hey, I can actually do this."Is it the end-all, be-all of autism books? Maybe not—every kid on the spectrum is unique, after all. But it's a darn good place to start your journey. It feels like it was written by someone who's lived it, who gets the ups and downs, and who knows that sometimes you just need someone to lay it out straight.Bottom line: if you're looking around for a compass to help you navigate autism with your little one, "Autism Spectrum Disorder (revised)" might just be it. It's not just informative—it's reassuring. And when you're a parent dealing with ASD, sometimes reassurance is exactly what you need to keep pushing forward.

A Must Read for Autism Understanding
This is an excellent source book for the parent with and Autistic child. This was a book recommended by a special needs teacher and it was very enlightening. At times I found it a little repetitive, but in the long run it was very good.

This really gives a good insight into how to recognise and manage autism and ADHD in young people.A very complex subject, and still with not sufficient understanding in the current education system.I would commend this to any parent with a child on the edge of ADHD or autism.
