Poor Quality & Dishonest Description - Do NOT recommend!
We ordered CC-53 last spring, in anticipation of moving our 6 chickens outside when the time came. When the coop arrived, we thought it was quite small despite the fact that the description claimed it would be good for up to 8 hens. We managed to get through the spring, summer and fall thanks only to several costly modifications that my husband made in order to improve upon the existing space. But with the arrival of winter and the chickens spending more time inside, we have realized how inadequate the coop is for our chickens and how grossly misleading the description of "8-10 hens" is for this coop. We have now been forced to rehome two of our chickens because the small size of the coop has resulted in their henpecking each other, much to our dismay. This is all without any mention of the quality of the coop, which is substandard to say the least. For the amount they are charging people for these coops they should be assured that they are purchasing a good home for their birds. We have had multiple issues with the latches breaking, wood warping, doors not closing, etc. etc.The company should be more forthcoming about the coop sizing as many first-time chicken keepers will defer to their "knowledge" and come away sorely misled. We hope that this review saves others from dealing with the multiple problems we have had with this coop, and avoid chickens being harmed in the process.

Cute but sorely inadequate, misrepresented features.
I purchased this coop as a first time chicken keeper after pondering the idea of building my own. I should've built my own. The cons of this coop are as follows: it is made of very fragile wood, it is uninsulated, the nesting box did NOT come as advertised with a hinge but did come with a wood prop that immediately gave way and smashed my fingers. The one little window doesn't allow for cross breeze ventilation forcing me to cut another. The ramp to the coop itself was flimsy and was broken off its hinges almost immediately, not to mention its VERY steep for my 4 week old chicks and needs more runners on it for traction for little feet. The nesting box required reinforcement as the floor was not secure and begged for a raccoon intrusion. Finally, there is not room for more than 4 hens comfortably. The pros of this purchase: it was easy to assemble and is adorable. Unfortunately it is not adequate and I was forced to fix many parts of this coop...yes spend more money. I also need to build another separate run. I can not recommend this coop.

Good little coop
Think it's a bit overpriced for the materials used. Very cute design. Would comfortably fit 5-6 chickens. Wouldn't leave chickens in run all the time. They need more space than what this coop provides. Easy to put together and seems to manage the rain well.

PLEASE dont waste your money!!
I received my coop a little over a year ago. I paid extra money to make the "run" longer and the coop raised for more room. I still had to pick it up at the loading dock (30 minutes away) after paying extra shipping. Be sure you have an extrq large vehicle to move the boxes. You dont have to be strong since they are light as a feather due to their use of wood similar to balsa wood. The build quality was clearly lacking so we reinforced all the wooden support pieces with heavier wood and replaced the thin staples with screws. The entire coop and run had to have another structure built over it to protect it from he elements. The roof shingles were covered all season long (no sun damage) and are still cracking, falling off and providing no water barrier for my hens at all. The latches are rediculous and the laying box cover isnt secured so any predator or wind gust opens the entire coop. Although it is CUTE, it is a piece of junk. Much of what I got I havent ever used because it just too weak or poorly constructed. My cat jumped on the roof yesterday and the whole thing nearly toppled. NOT safe for hens. NOT a good use of your money!!! Plan to rebuild the whole thng anyway.

Cute, functional
Cute, easy to put together. Wood is thin, though went together fine. Caulk! Caulk the heck out of it. Cut loose with a tube of paintable stuff. Brush off the roofing really well, it 'sheds' some. If you plan on painting yours, like I did tape off the roof, with paper. It drops onto wet paint, or at least add the nesting box roof after.Decent, well thought out design. Pitfalls are: yes it's cheesy wood. Think luan type quality, and it's small. The site says "8 hens" it's more suited for about four. I caulked, painted, and added better hardware to mine. It'll work good as the chicks are only 3 weeks old. It's worth painting it, the stain it comes with is very smelly. I'll add a photo of mine painted! Perfect for 4 chickens, decent design, not the best wood. I live in North Idaho, it's better suited for a warmer climate. It will do as we wait for the Green Chicken Coop to be made for us. After we move our chickens out, we'll put a grate in for rabbits to lounge in. The run is perfect size for our little Jersey Woolies!

Cute
Wonderful and attractive I love the coop as much as my chickens do well worth the price arrived in excellent condition. The box had some damage but all was well with its contents

Plenty big
Great little coop for the money. Very easy to put together I have a flock of 5, 2 being bantams. Adding 3 shortly. I dont understand everyone saying that this coop is too small for a flock of 4? Their birds must be huge. 8-10 can fit easily, though my flock does free range and only uses the coop for laying and sleeping. Oneof the better pre-fab coops on the market.

Not bad for the money
Start off with this is made in China but not bad for the money everyone thinks is the cutest little coop. Great for about 4 to 5 chickens. and easy to put together. not the thickest of wood had to add a few screws but overall a nice design but it is smaller than it looks.
