Not to be Confused With (Redacted).
The Gates of Hell is an exceptional anthology, all the stories were entertaining and fun to read. Something that seems to be an ongoing theme with any anthology that is released by Chris Kennedy Publishing. The collection opens solidly with a story by Kacey Ezell that the rabid fans of the 4HU Universe should enjoy. Quincy J. Allen continues to impress me with his “longer” short stories and The Thelosi Gambit continued this trend. Unnatural Selection by Dan Bridwater is a solid and entertaining first short story by a new author whom I have read many book reviews by. Rob Howell has a story about his spy from his novel Feeding of Sorrows. If you liked that novel, you will love this story. The same can be said for Kevin Steverson’s They Call Him Pops which I believe is an origin story for two supporting characters from Redacted Affairs. Jon R, Osborne has a Bjorn’s Berserkers story in the collection that fans of Bjorn should find appealing. Mark Wandrey provides cultural insight into the Aposo in his contribution to the book. I am glad I am not an Aposo. William Alan Webb closes out the book nicely with what I found to be a farce of a story in Roland The Headless Mech Driver.

Great anthology
I read this because I love this 4HU. Was not disappointed. All really good stories, some familiar writers, a couple brand new to this galaxy. Highly recommend to any fans of the 4HU or sci fi in general.

What a great Universe!
I just love the quality of storytelling in this book! These anthologies let me feel like I am flitting through the lives of friends old, new and unexpected! I am constantly happy to find pieces of old puzzles and threads of new beginnings in almost every story. Highly recommended for anyone who loves the Four Horseman Universe!!

Enjoyable!
New to the Four Horsemen universe I arrive at this book at a bit of a disadvantage. But having said that... can it still be enjoyable? Yes I’d say so. With a entertaining characters, imaginative science fiction, and the amazing depth this universe portrays, it’s incredibly exciting to stumble across this book. I look forward to starting this adventure from the beginning. In the story First Steps: “Why does this toy robot have tits?” “It’s a Japanese thing. You should see how the pilots drive it. In any case, who are you and what are you doing in my office?”I’m still laughing... but that’s probably because I’m a dork.

Wow just wow
Probably the best anthology yet. While all the stories are great, I have to give kudos to Bridgewater for going the extra mile and giving us a wonderful tale of genetic manipulation and dare I say love? Also many, many thanks to Webb for giving new life to an old favorite. Roland vile godkjenne!

Always good value from CKPublishing
I have most (all) of the 4HU books. There is not a bad on in the list. When you get and read this; first, you are going to enjoy it and second, you are going to get more from these folks. Mark Wandry is the colsest to John Ring I have found and Chris Kennedy is up to Dave Weber. This on e spends more of the time out among the various worlds in the universe and they are a varied and interesting selection.

50 is the number
Ok, you could say 15 with the number of stories in the anthology, but The Gates of Hell is the 50th book in the 4HU universe. It is the 4th "Lyon's Den" anthology. Named after the infamous bar.The book doesn't disappoint. As with every anthology, you will have favorite or less favorite stories, depending of the setting, the characters or simply the style of the author, and it's normal. Nonetheless… ALL of the stories are at the very least very good!Frankly, one can't do justice to such an anthology with a short review but I am not keen to do a long one as I try to review "spoiler free".The rich 4HU universe just got richer and it's a good news for fans of military SF all over the world! An to think there are 2 more books coming this month… YAY!!!!

An Entertaining Collection
The 4hu setting is a broad canvas. This was a great collection of stories. Some of them are slice of merc life tales with plenty of action and several are continuing stories. These authors bring the goods.

OK So I'm Picky
Most of the stories were OK, so why I only 3 stars?First: I've had to wait 4 Books to find what CASPers stands for !Second: the CASPers Mark #s reveal that the anthology is NOT in historic sequence which is just plain WRONG!!! and a failure of editing, which should rightly be punished.Editing is a privilege and a responsibility, "money for nothing and the chicks are free". Sheer idleness is not an option.
