The closer works well.Looking at the reviewers pics here, I see the assembly mounted on the door instead of the jam and other various assembly errors. The directions were not followed!These were mounted on the 2 doors shown so the dogs can go into the laundry room and through the doggy door. Then come back in and then they push the other door open and come in the house and I don't lose any heat with them going in/out.I do hear the internal spring late at night when the dogs come in, but during the day I don't hear it.A little Super Lube 31110 every so often really quiets the springs.To stop the heavy slam, if moving the bar to the next hole doesn't work.Mark the bar on the side away from the door, put the bar in a vise and very slowly bend the non-threaded bar end; kind of like an "L". Put the bar back in the closer and try again. If you still need less slam, remove the bar and repeat the process.I'm buying a third one today!

Excellent product overall. Very easy to install with supplied hardware and instructions. Very easy to set the required closing force. I would give it 5 stars if not an initial annoying noise issue caused by lack of lubricant on the inside. I contacted the distributor, and was very pleased with immediate response containing detailed instructions how to disassemble the unit and apply grease over internal parts. I took the unit apart, liberally sprayed white lithium grease all over internal parts, and reassembled. This took just a few minutes but the improvement was dramatic! One week has passed, and the closer is still silent and works as it should. With safficient lubrication added by the factory this little device will easily deserve 5-star rating. My recommendation is definitely buy this unit but plan to lubricate it before installing.

My room is down the hall from another family member. Sometimes she complains about my computer speakers being a little too loud. I run my business in the room. I want my privacy. Sometimes I walk in and out forgetting to close the door. It's a relatively light hollow core wood door. Thought about getting closer hinges. Reviews are not that good. Then found this closer. It's not big, chunky or expensive like a commercial or external door closer. Very simple, a spring that pushes the door closed. It was very easy to install. Some past complaints about noise in operation. The maker seems to have responded by heavily greasing the springs, something some users had to do.. The lowest setting closes the door without latching it. That is not bad, gentle and quiet. Holds it against the frame. The next position actually latches the door. Sounds like a gentle slam. Trying it, but I think I prefer the quieter close to avoid noise in the middle of the night.

Very easy to install and in my experience makes very little noise. I've had this product for some time now and it hasn't failed me. Would recommend

At first glance, this unit seems well made but, once it was installed on the door, I found the internal spring makes a loud groaning creak as the door opens and closes. I tried lubricating any moving surfaces I could see, with the hope that the oil would seep in and stop the noise, but to no avail. I have had one of these closers on another door for years (not sure it is the same brand, though), and it has functioned flawlessly. I tried sending an email requesting help to the manufacturer's customer service address and never heard back from them. I didn't return it, since I already now have holes drilled in my door and just hope the noise subsides over time.Follow up observation: The closer has been in place for a few months now and, either because it has worn in or because the oil I put on it has migrated into the internal parts, the closer has quieted down to the point where I don't notice it creaking anymore. Still wish their customer support had been responsive to my inquiry, though

This thing is perfect! I'm a nut for having my door close behind me but to have it close completely I have to slam it, which I don't like. This device solved it. Closes the door perfectly everything. And if I'm coming back through with full hands I just stop it just before it latches so I can open it hands free. If I just let go of the door anywhere from about a quarter to fully open, it closes perfectly every time. My door is hollow core so it's fairly light but I don't have this closer set to anywhere near full force. It could definitely handle heavier doors. Maybe not quite the front door with all the weather stripping but two of these would certainly do the trick and still be a deal at that. Highly recommended!

This product is extremely heavy duty and well-made. It was easy to install. Add a drop or two of Gun oil to make it completely quiet. Works correctly without any adjustment. Tip: keep the little metal bar that they don't really explain in the instructions. That's used after you mount the unit but before you insert the arm ... it is temporarily used to crank the cylinder open so you can attach the arm that actually pushes the door closed. I just left it in place it because it doesn't get in the way and it will probably be needed in the future. I would recommend you buy this product if you need something to close your door reliably and relatively quietly.

I installed this on our kitchen bathroom door so I didn't have to look at the toilet while eating my dinner. ;)This is an excellent, unobtrusive solution to keeping a door closed. It's so small and unobtrusive that it's unlikely anyone will ever notice it. Plus, it has a very simple, non-complicated look.The install was super-simple. The company provides an installation video on YouTube that quickly told me everything I needed for an excellent install. It literally took about 10 minutes to install--and now I could probably install one in about three minutes.The tension is adjustable and the mechanics seem very simple. I get a nice, gentle automatic close from this unit.
