Best Precalculus book on the market
I have been a math instructor for eight years and have seen many precalculus textbooks. This book is by far the best. It clearly explains all concepts and often provides very useful proofs. Of course it is precalculus so naturally there will be plenty of negative reviews simply because some people are not capable of understanding the subject. For the serious student, though, this book cannot be beat.

math book way better than the one i had to keep ;(
So I had a good amount of time to buy it and I bought it early thinking it would be slow coming but it was the earliest things to come to me from the day I bought the other textbooks and it was in good condition. What some people may not like now is hard cover because its heavy but seriously I got the paper copy, the one that is actually just paper not even a spine, need to buy a binder type and I think it's just nice that this was hard cover and had everything anyway. But I have to say no web assign which some colleges need like City College. It was also pretty good price comparing to the copy I have to keep.

Worst math textbook ever.
The authors of this textbook (Stewart, Watson, and Redlin) have severely failed to create an understandable approach to mathematics. As soon as you start your homework in this book they will start you off with the most complicated exercise in the chapter. Unlike other textbooks which generally have some sort of progression in difficulty as you move through the homework. The authors continuously mix up concepts in the chapters. If you have learned one thing, expect a random question with concepts you have not learned. The authors assume the student knows mathematics as well as they do.The student solutions manual is a joke as well. Steps are skipped and the layout is poorly done. There will be instances where the solution is "see Excercise 7.4.42".I hate this book with a passion.

Speedy delivery, book itself lacking
I ordered a used copy of this text and the delivery was very prompt. Actually arrived a day early. The book itself isint so great. The main issue lies in the examples for problems in the beginning of each chapter. You know, the examples that are supposed to teach you the concepts you're supposed to learn. The issue is that in these examples, the intermediate steps are often left out, jumping to the answers without showing you exactly what was done. Sometimes they will actually just skip steps and just show you 1 or 2 steps while leaving out the others...maybe this is to cut down on printing costs? Who knows. In my opinion, a textbook on math needs to show you every little step on the way to getting a correct answer, in order for the student to fully comprehend the problem without wondering " uhhh, where did THAT come from?". Good thing my professor is awesome.
