Another great book by Matthew MacDonald
I already had Matthew MacDonald's excellent "Visual Basic 2005: A Developer's Notebook", so when I saw this C# book, I decided to buy it rather than wait for the VB version. Understanding the C# example code should be no problem for most VB programmers, but better still both the C# and VB code is now available. This book is comprehensive and covers all the topics I'd expect to find in a windows forms and custom controls book. The code examples are clear and sufficiently detailed to convey the necessary information and Matthew avoids adding distracting frills. More reviews for this book are available on the USA Amazon web site and most are very positive. My only complaint is that, as with many computer books, it's too thick and heavy.NB Some of the details listed above by amazon.co.uk are a little confusing, for example, the book is copyright 2006, not 2004 and therefore, I decided to play safe and buy this book elsewhere.

Excellent reference
This book truly is an excellent reference for developers wanting a quick, concise overview of WinForms & Custom Controls. It skips the stuff that you'll probably already be familiar with and gets down to the more interesting implementations quickly.I've found it invaluable and would highly recommend it to others.

Not perfect
The issues I have with this book is the way it is written. The code is not highlighted and just appears to blend with the text on the page. There is also a problem with the way information is organised in each chapter, a bit messy if you are used to Wrox layouts. Can't fault the content though.
