Came in early, can’t wait to start on it, it is in my backlog that I plan on working on over thanksgiving

First off, I'm just going to say, this is my absolute FAVORITE Gundam of all time. I absolutely love Deathscythe, but Deathscythe Hell EW is by far the best in my opinion. This is my first Gundam kit in over 20+ years, but I have been researching and practicing gunpla techniques on Gundam figures for the last couple of years, so by this point I knew I could handle it. It would simply require assembly, patience and doing everything correctly. Now, you could say everything I'm going to say is objectively noob territory stuff, but I know what I'm doing and what to expect and I just want to prepare anyone new or old to gunpla on what to expect. So here goes. 1.) No matter what you do to prevent nubs(the things left over after you remove the part from the runners),it will prove fruitless on most of the plastic, especially the lighter gray parts on the legs and arms. Trust me, I cut the runners properly, used hobby knives to clean it up and sand and polished the plastic. But no matter what, the discoloration of where those nubs were will NOT go away. Be prepared to paint it if that's a problem, if not, do as you will. Just know, they will be there regardless of the effort you put in. 2.) This kit goes together easily, aside from the inner leg frame and the wings, they are a bit of a pain to piece together but nothing too terrible. It will be an inconvenience with the wings in particular, but it's manageable. Having said how easily it goes together, it will come apart just as easily. It says glue not required, but I assure you, it's almost an absolute must for just about everything but joints, since you'll actually want to be moving to pose and whatnot. Glue or plastic cement is highly recommended if you don't want random parts coming off when posing or reposing the figure upon completion. 3.) It does NOT come with an action base/stand, you will need to get one if you want aerial poses like I have. A bit annoying and a minor inconvenience, but something to be aware of. 4.) It does come with all the decals and stickers, I'm simply a "purist" when it comes to my Gundams. Whereas, if it didn't have it in the show/movie, I will not use them. But for those that love that kind of thing, there are PLENTY. 5.) For a straight build, it looks pretty decent, nothing that will make you look back twice at. It's remarkably short on any possible panel lining, so I strongly suggest advance techniques to bring out it's full potential, ie, preshading, weathering and most definitely a topcoat. 6.) BEWARE the head, the face piece will definitely NOT stay together if you do not glue or cement it, the rest of the head is kind of in the same basket, but not as bad. I know after all is said and done, it seems like a lot of complaints, but it's more or less me preparing anyone for what they'll encounter before undertaking this particular kit to more or less be properly prepared for the task. Trust me, with the right care and TLC, this thing looks sick! Just take your time and put in the work and you WON'T be disappointed. If you're an absolute fan of the anime/manga, you'll definitely want this. If you think it's cool regardless, trust me, it is. If you want a challenge, you'll definitely get it. I purchased this kit from Amazon.com late in 2011. It arrived in a carefully packed box with no damage to said box. I don't care about that, but someone might. The kit is a bandai gundam kit, which are notorious for excellent articulation and detail. This 2011 tooling of the Deathscythe Hell is breathtaking. Whether you use paint or not, it will look great on your shelf. I have a few parts remaining to attach (the active cloak) and the kit will be complete. The scythe looks amazing, and the active cloak has much more detail than the 10 year older tooling (the high grade). Definitely worth the money and the painless time constructing it. The instructions are in Japanese, but this has never hindered me from completing their kits. High quality, recommended if you shell out the money. Build: Easy Tools: No glue or paint required, recommend model nippers and tweezers for decal application Build Quality: Very High Super Detailed: No (no aftermarket sets exist) Cost (after paint): ~$80 USD This is NOT a toy, despite being articulate like one. Care is needed to ensure the kit does not fall from a height.

I recently got this kit not expecting a lot from building the previous Deathscythe EW kit. I was fearful that the arms would pop off with ease, or if some parts would come undone all over the place. But I must say, this is a pleasant surprise to see the Hell version of this guy is overall far better, in my eyes, then it's predecessor. First of all, the Colors blend together almost seemlessly. Suttle hue's of red here and there really catch your eye as you look the kit over. The darker color scheme really suits Duo's personality and claim's of being the God of Death. From the subtle, dark purple of the limbs, to the pitch black of the Active Cloak, aka his 'Wings'. It all seems' to fit this guy. The white high lights of the shoulders, arms, and knee's at first seem out of place when your building it, but when it's together, it adds a good counterpart to all the dark parts you'll be putting together. As for articulation, this kit lives up to it's Master Grade names. The elbow's move nearly 190 Degree's. Allowing him to hang his Scythe, or Beam Scissor (As it's called in the japanese manual), over his shoulder. His arms rotate a good 180, but are limited by the Active Cloak unless you adjust it all. The head moves from right to left, looks down, but it is a bit tricky to get him to look up. Not that he needed to anyway, he was known for striking from above. His stomach is a double ball jointed mechanism, allowing you to pull off any sort of stylistic pose you'd desire on an action base. His feet are able to point downwards, and his toe's even have a bit of articulation, enough to wiggle them about. Now, as much as I love this guy, there are a lot of little nit picks that I have with it. First off, has to be the Scythe. I strictly remember the Scythe he had in the OVA Endless Waltz had duel Blades. One on top of the other. He just doesn't feel complete with a single blade on his Scythe. Another thing is the skirt. Yes it is fully poseable, and all. But it likes to pop off when you try to pose the legs. As well as the little grayish purple bits on the black like to fly off. I'll have to glue those in place. Then there's a minor issue with the hands. Its one of those swap these fingers out for these. It works, but I like to put my gundam's hands into poses I like. Then my Biggest Irk is, the hand with the peg and the Scythe combo. Yes it has a slot along the front of the scythe to grip onto. But what about the back? It's completely solid. So you have to get creative when wanting to pose his scythe say in a uppercut fashion. Other then those nit picks. This is over all one of my favorite Master Grades I have, and I'm proud to finally give Wing Zero Custom his Dark Counterpart. Can you say, Angel vs Demon? Can't wait to get the rest of the crew together and pose them all in one epic scene.

It’s a great old school kit. You will need to do some extra work to make this kit really shine, and I wish they’d do a version 2.0 of all the old Wing and G gundam kits. By extra work I mean sealing seams with thin cement, and gluing certain wing parts together so they don’t look goofy, Major nub cleaning with the colored plastic as well. The plastic is good quality even though it’s old, but since it’s purple in color and not white like many Gundam frames, you will have to put in extra effort and care to avoid marring the outer edge of the plastic. It looks phenomenal snapped out of box with some glue and the care taken to clean the nubs, don’t pass on the kit for it being old. Build is straight forward and simple, although the manual is dated in certain areas in the descriptions on parts placement, nothing impossible to figure out however. If you love Endless Waltz like I do, there’s no reason for this to not be in your collection. Cost is valued great for a MG kit, and it stands the test of time better than Sandrock, Heavy arms, Nataku, or Wing Zero to be honest. Duo Maxwell would be proud to pilot this suit towards your glass display case!

Let me preface by saying this is my first ever Japanese model that I have built. It is also the first Gundam model I have ever built. I can almost go so far as to say this is my FIRST EVER MODEL. (I built a couple models when I was a teen, but that was back when dinosaurs roamed the earth). That said, going into this model I had some initial trepidation. I have not built models in years, and I knew the directions were all in Japanese. Unboxing I was presented with a lot of part trees all in various colors, and a nice booklet-style instruction manual all in black and white and all in Japanese. So, with a deep breath I sat down and just dove right in. First, the directions are easily followed. If you can build a Lego set, you can build this. All you have to do is follow the pictures. The few spots where you see Japanese writing it is obvious they are trying to alert you to a potential mistake, so just pay extra attention to the pictures. I managed to complete the model in about 4-hours without a single mistake! Building the model was very fun. You do not need any glue or paint, although both will help. The pieces snap fit very tightly, but I did actually add some glue to a few specific areas just because I wanted them extra durable (for example, the "tiara" on his head will fall off if you don't glue it, and there are some embellishments on the "skirt" that fall off easily if you don't glue them). Other than that, I do recommend you get a pair of model snippers (about $10 but way worth it). The model snippers will let you clip the parts from the trees with very little flashing remaining. I also recommend a nail file to smooth the snipped pieces (not super necessary, but I did have a few parts that needed smoothing so the joints would move easily). Finally, the kit does come with decals and stickers, but adding your own paint will make the fished model look amazing (if you know how to paint). Again, paint is not necessary, but I would say model snippers are necessary. Once built, the Gundam is somewhere between a toy action figure and a delicate model for display only. I glued mine in a few areas so it is a little more durable than it would otherwise be. Still, it's not something you want to play with. Get it in an awesome pose and let it adorn your shelf. Feel free to change up the pose now and then, but if you really start to treat it like an action figure it's just not going to last. Overall, it was a VERY pleasant experience putting this together and I've already ordered more kits. I LOVE that you don't need any glue (but I like to add a dab here and there anyway). I LOVE that you don't need any paint (but some paint will make it look like a pro put it together). My only cons are: 1. It's still a model. I'd love for it to be more durable so my kids could play with it, but I knew it was a model going into it. and 2. I wish the instructions were in English. Again, a nit pick. The instructions really are like a Lego book. Even Japanese people wouldn't require reading anything (that's how good the pictures are). Still, it'd be nice to read all the cool specs they have in the book, and it looks like they tell you all about the Gundam, and without knowing Japanese, all I see are heiroglyphics. So, go ahead and buy this! You won't be disappointed! Oh...and unlike some reviewers, I have no problems posing or standing my Gundam, even when he is holding his amazing scythe.
