Excellent accessory for 5/8" diameter honing rods, provides 12 angles in total
A fantastic product for accurate honing using a rod. Well documented and with all the necessary information on how to use it correctly available from the manufacturer. Do your research and reading (the product description is excellent, with all the information needed) before purchasing, and if after using it you find it not to be easily a 4 (a little wider surface where the blade touches the guide would be useful) or 5 star product, then the problem is user related, not product related!PS Copying from the product's description for the ones who tend to skip important info and then complain about an excellent product:*Set sharpening angle before each stroke. Doesn't move with knife*12 angles. 4 cones with 3 angles on each cone: 12°-14°-13°, 15°-17°-16°, 18°-20°-19°, 23°-30°-25°*Fits only round rods. Internal diameter: 5/8" (16 mm)*Does not fit oval rods*For best results please read and follow tutorial on our website!!!

Angle steel
Put on a steel just larger than recommended seems to work fine

Works great on our 14 degree edge Wusthof Icon Classics.
Using a sharpening steel has always been a hit or miss thing for me. These handly little guides take the guess work out of it and now our knives are as sharp as they've been since they were new. Definitely worth the small investment.

Angle is key to honing on a sharpening rod
I was surprised at how well it sharpened my kitchen knives. Once you know the angle for your type of knives this works extremely well to put that very sharp edge on your knives! Highly recommend .

I like high quality knives and I have decent collection which ...
Very often when you see a simple and elegant solution to the problem you have, you think “why didn’t I think of that myself”. I like high quality knives and I have decent collection which I built over time; I have knives from Randall, Chris Reeve, Bob Dozier, etc. From time to time they need to be sharpened, which if done incorrectly can ruin them. To assist with the sharpening and to do it right, you need to know what angle works best for the type of knife that you’re working with; doing this by feel and without a guide is extremely difficult to get right with little experience. I have looked at or tried all the various guides/devices that I was able to find; all were either cumbersome, inconvenient, or entailed some form of electric grinder wheel devices, which will never get your edge as perfectly honed. After much research, it finally looks like I found the best solution in this product. It is very simple to use, you just need to choose the desired angle guide, attach it to the stone by a provided rubber band and you are good to go. Now you can easily sharpen with perfect repeatability at the correct angle. Considering the price and convenience I would highly recommend this product. The package arrived on time and with all the correct contents.

Expensive, but IDEAL for sharpening Idiots.
I’ve use these for years now. And just bought another set, because I moved and couldn’t find my originals. Like many people, I really am a sharpening idiot. I tried to learn honing angles on my own, but I ended up dulling (rolling the edge) on my knives in the process. These guides just completely take the guesswork out of estimating angles, and make it easy and effective to keep the edge aligned on your knives. To me that’s worth around $14.

Micro bevel rules!
I purchased a set of expensive knives a while ago. They were very very sharp. Since then I couldn't make them same sharp again. I purchased different expensive sharpeners, I paid to sharpening services in Manhattan several times, but knives were never as sharp as new. Now it is first time when I was able to sharpen my knives as new. Very scary sharp! First I sharpened them on stones at 15 degrees. I used 13 degrees guide because my knives side angle is 2 degrees. Then I made a micro bevel on ceramic rod with 18 degrees orange guide. It made 20 degrees total angle if you add knife's 2 degrees side angle. The sharpness is absolutely stunning. Pay attention that you do not press hard on knife when honing on sharpening steel. Previous reviewer was right with warning not to cut yourself. Me, my wife and our son already cut ourselves too. Now I know the meaning of 'razor sharp' expression. Happy sharpening!
