This is the first review I ever wrote but I just got mine in mail yesterday and today I cooked chicken thighs I was able to watch the temp go up and not have to worry about checking the meat to see if it was done. I use never been a cooker and just start d learning how to cook and my big issue was knowing when the meat is cooked. My checken came out juicy and but perfect and to make sure I took it out and poked it in a buch of different places and they all read over 175 I was soo happy to not worry about feeding my kids uncooked meat and it tasted so good yessss!!

Would not buy!
I bought this product to replace what I thought was a cheap hardware store thermometer I had. It turns out my previous thermometer was much better. This product worked exactly once before the probe broke and stopped reading temperatures.Other issues:1. The magnets are weak and do not hold the unit to a surface.2. You can only see temperature or time; not both. Not only that, but the switch to change view is tiny and located on the back of the unit.3. The unit lies flat against the surface you place it on. Not very helpful when I place it on the side table of my grill and I have to hover over the unit and look straight down to see what the temperature is.4. The temperature presets are way too high. Additionally, the touchscreen buttons are annoying to use and it is a hassle to manually reduce the temperature each time.5. The probe is way too long and heavy. This maybe would be useful if I were cooking an entire pig, but for normal use it is a major annoyance.

Most annoying. This could have been avoided if there was ...
I used this thermometer for the first time a few weeks ago on a turkey breast. I got out my new thermometer, and watched the instruction on the website, as instructed. The turkey was really really moist since the thermometer kept me from overcooking it. Had I stopped there, this would have been five stars. It defaults to Celsius, but I'm in the US and had to find where the setting was for the F/C temps by watching the video on their website again. I thought once set it would stay on there, but that wasn't the case. However the next time I went to use it, I had to look up how to select Fahrenheit, not Celsius again. This meant looking for the box so I could locate the website where the instructional video was located. Then I had to listen to about half of the video to get to see how this was done again. Most annoying. This could have been avoided if there was a small instruction manual so I could save it in my kitchen drawer with all the other little manuals. If there were written instructions on how to set the thermometer on the page with the video, I could have printed it out and saved it with manuals for kitchen items. Or if there was a US version of the item for US customers that defaults to Fahrenheit. The thermometer works great, and I love being able to see the temp without opening the door and losing heat in the oven. Just this annoying issue with the F/C setting. I just hope I don't lose the box...

Not intuitive+Not accurate=an overcooked roast
I really wanted to like this probe thermometer, but both my wife and I -- one a software training director, the other an attorney -- found the controls to be confusing and unintuitive. Worse still was the unit's accuracy, which gave us a distinctly "medium well" roast when "medium rare" was desired.Let me be brutally honest: I think we could have figured this unit out if we'd given it enough time and practice, but who wants to spend time with the manual for a meat thermometer? We're both foodies, we both love to cook, and we both know our way around a probe thermometer. My wife tends to use one for pork roasts, while mine is used more for large hunks of beef and the occasional tenderloin.I realize as I write this that others in this thread LOVE this unit -- which is why I purchased it to begin with -- but our experience with it proved more frustrating than satisfying, and thus the 2-star review.Wife here: This is the worst. I've used other thermometers, and I don't think we would have figured it out because it didn't work the way the directions said it would. I hate it and we missed the return deadline so now I'm just mad about the whole thing.
