Family Guy: Peter Griffin vs. The Giant Chicken

Oh Crap-allelujah
I just ordered this DVD (so haven't received it yet..perhaps not 'fair' or 'kosher' to write a review...but have seen the chicken fight episodes scattered throughout my regular season discs and so I know what I'm getting on the disc). Am very happy they put the 1st 3 fights on one disc. Although I take it from other reviews that some folks find the 'recurring gag' worn out or cliche or Seth running out of ideas and so rehashing space filler 'junk' and pedalling it to make more money (well...as Carl Sagan would say..."maybeeee"), I completely disagree. What's FUN about 'chicken fights' is that they are random. One minute talking to Quagmire about some nonsense and the next minute we're off on another few minutes of non stop over the top ludicrous violence, great animation directing, hilarious 'die hard' type music, bone crunching stupidity...chicken ends up apparently dead on the street (only to open an eye before the scene cuts) and Peter's right back to the beginning of the scene (bloodier of course) finishing his conversation with Glen and everyone acts as though nothin has happened. The segments are sort of like a drop-by-and-brief visit from an old pal. I certainly wouldn't want to see a chicken fight in EVERY episode, but hey... like the Simpson's annual halloween show (where it seems Ned dies some horrible death each and every time), a few minute chicken fight once a season is a lil' stroke of genius by Seth. It's not worthless filler, it's inspired! They come along when not expected, only last a few minutes, and it's fun to see how over the top they get. I think the most recent fight involved everything happening 'backwards' or in segmented reverse chronological order due to a malfunctioning Stewie time machine (which isn't on this disc...or rather, I doubt it is because it was just last season or the beginning of this season). If FOX would issue all the THOT on a single set, that would be ideal (they'd make money and fns wouldn't have to lay out all their season sets on Halloween and hunt for the episodes) ... and that Seth is putting the first 3 fights on one disc, that's a good idea. 3 episodes for $10 is a little rich when a complete season can be had on ebay for about $20... but I don't MIND shelling out about $10 for it. So if you're ALSO a 48 year old 'kid' who finds the show still original... and a once-in-awhile chicken fight an ENJOYABLE running gag ... then 3 episodes with 'fight' would be a good filler on your wall o' Family Guy DVDs (everyone takes a shot when the chicken comes along... or everyone chugs a beer as soon as the fight starts ... could be a drinking game video at only 66 minutes). ... just so long as Seth doesn't issue a 'Bird is the Word' compilation DVD (that WOULD be obnoxious!). All the chicken fight scenes you crave!
But I'm sure there will be more fights or other fights which needs to be included on the DVD in the future.

Just another 3 episodes
This DVD is really just 3 episodes that happen to have Peter fighting the Giant Chicken. If you already own the season DVD's, no need to purchase this.

Pointless
Out of all the skits on the show, the Peter vs. Chicken is probably the most talked about and most cliche thing the show has to offer. "How do we fill out the rest of the episode? I don't know, a scene where peter says "Oh crap" and then we cut to a shot of the chicken and we start a fight between the two and the skit goes on for more way too long?"This is the shows 'bottom of the barrel' writing, you know, when the writers can't think of something "funny" but don't care cause they realized now we're all idiots and don't care enough for real comedy as long as it involves a 7+ minutes long skit of something that can never happen(even if it's a cartoon) - there is a reason why Seth has made it apparent to himself kids watch this, cause they're the only ones left who actually watch this and get a kick out of it.(which is why adults find this show unoriginal)All in all, this is a pointless DVD.... Seth is just milking the unfunniest skit on his unfunny show...... stupid.(Hate all you want, this sucks.)
