Simple and Straightforward
It's as simple as it can be. It's a plain chrome standard sized weight bar. I got this to replace the old 5' bar that came with my standard weight set way back when. It fits my Olympic sized bench press and half rack perfectly. The grooves where you place your hands aren't very aggressive, which is something I like. I don't feel like my hands are being torn to bits when I knock out reps with it. Weight comes in at just over 19 lbs, which is also right where I like it.

Great bar. They say rated for 250 but ive put over 400 pounds on this bar with no ill effects to the bar. I feel like it can take even more weight no problem. I know everyone swears by olys but i like my standards for the basic maintenance workouts at home. If you havent gone to oly yet this is a worthy investment.

Just Good Enough to Keep
PROS:Affordable.Knurling is great for bench and standing row, or anything else with a wider than shoulder width grip.Although it will bend a little bit, it holds at least 315 pounds. Will update this review if it fails under more weight, but it is only rated up to 250 so my review rating won't change if it does fail.CONS:Slight permanent bend after 215 pounds. It bent exactly 3/32" over 26". I measured this before adding more weight. This is not a big factor in my opinion, but it affects my review because it really shouldn't do that under its weight rating. As stated above, I put 315 pounds on it and while it did bow a little more on my back, it didn't bend any further once it was back on the rack.Placement of knurling: This is why I give it 3 stars instead of 4. My forefinger grabs the smooth part of the bar at shoulder width, so I am eventually going to add bicycle handle grip tape for deadlifts. I am 5'11" with broad shoulders, and this issue would be worse for someone with a smaller frame. Also, the knurling on one side of the bar is 1/4" shorter than on the other side, so I used a magic marker and then tape to keep my grip even (see pic).Additional Comments:Per another review, I added a 3lb. weight to each sleeve to keep the bar at an even 25lbs.The Cap spring clips hold weights on very securely and are easy to use. The more expensive plastic collars slip, so I use them on my old barbell with threaded sleeves. Conclusion:I won't be returning this bar, but I will definitely upgrade in the future. It's good enough I suppose, but don't expect to be impressed.

Good standard bar. Would buy again.
I bought this in Jan 2017 and have been using it all year. This 7' unthreaded bar weighs 19# and is 1" in diameter. It fits with standard (1") plates. I use plastic barbell clamps to keep the plates on.I use this bar for squat, bench, and overhead press and haven't had any problems with it. I have a pair of 3# plates that I keep on it in order to make the bar a nice 25#. It's easy to microload in 1 lb increments by switching those out with 2.5# plates when necessary. The bar is rated to lift 250 lbs but somebody in the question section said that she has pulled 300 without problem. I cannot comment on those max amounts as I haven't reached them yet.

Great bar for home
Excellent bar for the home....i have 2 smaller bars at home...5 and 6 inch along with a preacher bar and a tricep bar and 325 pounds worth of weider old school free weights, i also have pullup/dip/ leg raises station at home, bench, 4 dumbells... The ones you put on and take off the freeweights and an exercise bike but i ordered a home squat rack cause after years of wanting one the ones i always saw or found were like for a house or garage and they would take up too much space in an apartment but now i found a great squat rack which are both sides seperated so you can move it were and when you want in your home and store them close together when not in use and wont take up space anywhere with a 550 lb capacity so i ordered this 20 pound 1 inch bar instead of the regular 2 inch 45 pound gym style bar cause i go more to the gym than i train at home but i train 3 times a week and sometimes im not in mood for gym and i can get the same quality workout and HEAVY at home with freeweights so for home this 1 inch bar i think is better and less heavier to deal with at home....so i did squats for the first time at home with this 7 foot bar on my new squat rack and it was excellent...i went up to 255lbs ( counting) the 20 lbs that the bar weighs so 235lbs of freeweights on it and then i did 315 pound deadlifts at home and dammm it felt as heavy as when i do them with a 2 inch 45lb bar at the gym....i recommend this bar for home use especially if you can squat or bench at home...i dont recommend the smaller bars for that

Smooth Ends
What a great find! I am a 5'2" woman. I was given a bunch of CAP barbell plates with 1" hole. I was searching for a bar with smooth end. I purchased the 7 ft. bar and have used it several times. I haven't put more than 50lbs. on it. Gains are slowly coming! LOL I am very happy with it. I like the diamond etching for hand grips. The length sits on my barbell stand well and I purchased 1" barbell clamps. I am very happy and can now add more to my workouts at home.

Crap
Started to notice a permanent bend after adding 245lb to the bar for high bar squats. That's a total of 260lbs if including the bar and collars. The bar is rated at a recommended 250lbs but does that mean with or without the bar? Either way, it shouldn't have a permanent bend as this is such a small difference and any limit ratings should allow for standard deviations. Whoever said they loaded the bar with 400lbs with no ill effects is either full of crap or the quality of this product has been drastically reduced. I bought this in December 2018 by the way. I loaded it with 315lbs for deadlifts and now the bend is much much worse. It's not just bent in the middle but also at the ends where you load the weight. Not recommended. I've used sunny fitness' 60 inch barbell with the same weight with no bend. Too bad they dont sell a 84 inch version.

CAP has some pretty serious quality control issues
CAP has some pretty serious quality control issues. I've purchased rubber floor matting from them where the "squares" weren't square, a bench where the seat pieces don't quite line up and my latest purchase of this bar continues the trend. The bar I received wasn't "true", there is a slight bow to it (you roll it on a flat surface, like a pool queue and it doesn't stay "flat"). This doesn't affect the performance of the bar, but seriously, how hard is it to produce a truly straight barbell?

I have seen a lot of complaint about the bar ...
I have seen a lot of complaint about the bar curve and Yes it is true but to all the people that have complained about it that did not stop me from buying because they never lifted heavy and probably never got to a gym that lifts heavy. When I see a slight bend I know they tested the weight rating for QC. So far the bar is holding the weight I put on.

Satisfied, Perfect For Squat Rack
The grip width is just wide enough for my Squat Rack. The grip dose not cut up or shred your palms. When it arrived, there was no bends or wrapped sections. I had to buy claps separate, but it's all Good. I've been benching and squating 200LBS, and the bar has had very little to no flex. It's exactly the size I needed. And it works perfectly. Good quality for its price

Disappointed
Bar is OK one rubber end piece was missing and collars I bought don't fit tightly on the bar. I had another set of collars and they dont fit tightly on the bar either, Disappointed.

Versatile barbell!
Love the bar, it is very sturdy for a one inch. The only problem I had receiving it was the rubber gasket that prevents the weights from damaging the bar, which was broken. Nonetheless, very good barbell for a home gym!

Good bar
Came as expected, weights fit great on the bar with any clips. People talking about bend in the bar is far overstated, it's a minimal bend to the point you can't even tell.
