The handle of the shower wand is made from plastic while the connection point of the hose, which is held by the bracket is metal. All of the connection points (Handle to Hose, Hose to Bracket and Bracket to Wall Pipe) use 1/2 inch pipe threading which is the standard for US pipe threading.

Q: Will the top housing piece fit a Japanese sized fixture? What is the diameter of the housing fixtures?

All Sprite connection points use 1/2 inch pipe threading which is standard for US fixtures.

Q: Do handle and head have to be purchased separately or does head come with handle—misleading?

Both come together complete all u do is remove your other &screw in the new one

Q: Can this fit on a bathtub faucet with a diverter.

If the bathtub faucet diverter has 1/2 inch pipe threading at its end the hose should attach without issue. If the flow rate of the faucet (The amount of Gallons Per Minute) is very high, your hose might burst from pressure. The answer is yes it can be installed and the filter will work but it might not be the optimum set up.
