Mows nice just not good on the hills when turning .

Assembly was hard and complicated it took five hours to assemble and get it to function and start and run

Ariens has been making quality mowers for years. The Ikon-XD is a retool of the Ikon-X with a few improvements. I have a few likes and dislikes. LIKES: Comfortable adjustable seat with adjustable armrests. Roomy operator's station including floor plate, although the floor pate is not removable to service the deck. Hand operated parking brake is nice. Blade height (not cutting height) is adjusted by turning a dial on the control panel (1.5 - 4.5 inches). It has a fabricated deck with 3 blades. The deck has 4 points of adjustment that are easily accessible. Tire size is adequate20" rear. The Kohler engine is a plus. Negative: The warranty only covers the original purchaser and is not transferrable. Not enough dealers unless you live in a large metropolitan area. The ROPS bar is unnecessary and makes oil changes difficult. I would suggest removing it as it serves no purpose. Oil changes require the use of a short plastic tube that is hard to manage. I would toss that and get a powered oil pump to siphon the oil into a container. It makes less of a mess. Buy this unit from a dealer, not a big box store or online. You get no service after the sale unless you buy from a dealer. Don't believe me, try getting it serviced. You will get bumped to the bottom of the service list. A dealer will take care of you if you purchase from them. They usually have better finance options for those individuals that don't have an extra $3000 laying around.

This is my FIRST Zero turn mower and after some user breakin..GIVING IT 5 stars. I uncrated this at home and did my own servicing...Started right up CUTS LIKE A DEMON. Had to unlearn all previous "garden tractor" moves and have been rewarded with consistent cutting . As mentioned it has a flared back end so be careful next to fence lines, trees, outdoor outlets (ripped on of mine right off a garage) Flush the deck after use, get a dedicated cover..use fresh gas w seafoam. My Blades were not sharp... so removed and redone. CUTS GREAT...and Amazon carries the replacement blade set. I cut 3 acres with ease... about 1/2 a tank of gas. Have the auxillary LED lights and Hitch on the back. Rear tires 18 lb front 12 lb...gives a decent ride. Needs a front bumper kit UPDATE:1/1/2022 HAVE BEEN IMPRESSED SINCE I FIRST GOT IT... got a suspension seat, and no other issues. fashioned a front bumper for it ... still 100% pleased with my purchase.

This mower with the anti-scalp wheels is perfect for un-even lawns you may have. It cuts very clean and the blade tip speed is excellent. The Kohler engine 7000 series is the very best and they have very few problems compared to the other ones. The Ariens is priced very well and you get a lot of mower for your money.
