Best Program for Weight Loss & Maintenance - Still Great > 40 years
This is simply the best program for weight loss and management. I've used it twice over the last 40 years to lose weight and reset my eating habits to maintain a healthy weight. Very well written and organized. I've used it to go from 185 lbs to a new set point of 155 lbs over 4 months. The program is based on good nutritional data and there are many menu options to help achieve your goal. Do read the introductory material, understand the weight loss and maintenance material, and stick with the program for 4 months. It works if you have the discipline to change your habits. Once at your set-point goal, the maintenance phase is is next. And there is a program for re-entry if necessary. You can spend a lot of $ on other programs, feel guilty, and show some progress. This program only costs you the price of the book and the self discipline to follow it - you will see results within a month. I keep buying this book to give to others - and not all follow it, but those who do get results. Not quick & easy.

The Hilton Head Metabolism Diet
The Hilton Head Metabolism Diet has been the easiest for me to follow. My sister and her husband have benefited both in health and weight loss. Colesterol and blood pressure have been lowed substantially. My sister and I take our lunch to the beach, eat, then take a walk. This aids us in continuing the program. Our family, both husbands and wives, have lost a total of at least 30 lbs each. You have to think of the diet as a program that you will follow for the rest of your life. If a family member does not need to lose weight just stay on the program and add a little more for that member. If I have to stop the program I go imediately back on and continue as before. I have been on many diet progams that have taken the weight off and regained it. Think of this as a program for life. There are no quick fixes. Time and patience are very important.

The Hilton Head Metabolism Diet
This is a very effective eating plan. I follow a pescetarian diet - I eat fish but no meat. I found this plan to be perfect for me. It contains lots of fruits and vegetables and I can easily substitute fish for the meat dishes. Even though the intial daily caloric intake is very strictive I found that the combination of foods was very satisfying and the exercise plan easy to manage. There is no guesswork or tracking of foods involved in this plan. The daily meal plans are a outlined for you for every phase of your weight loss journey. I love it!!!!!

It works !!!!
The menu choices seemed dated, but it worked for me like NOTHING else. I'm forty, a mother, have hypothyroidism and just couldn't lose weight. I found this book in a pile of books a friend of mine was getting rid of and thought, "Well here's one I haven't tried yet."So glad I did, the first week I lost 2 inches in my waist, usually the LAST place I lose, within 4 months I lost 20 pounds and was in my goal size clothes. This plan does work, you won't have to buy unfamiliar hard to find foods, but it does take a quite a commitment on your part as far at the eating and exercise plan.

WOW this book really suprised me!
I have to say we didn't expect much from this book but it has been great!!! We did cheat some, like still having our morning mocha's and somtimes grabbing a small snack so we don't have hunger pains but it still has been working out. So with me doing a workout every other day I have loss 13 lbs. in 2 weeks. My wife who comes homes beat from work and doesn't have time to workout due to her also going to school full time online has lost 7lbs.Also some of the recipes are kind of weird but actually taste great considering what you put in them. And we are going to keep some of those recipes for our regular meals when we leave the diet because they are so good. The lasagna with zuchinni has to be my favorite.I have to say if you are even more dedicated then we are then this diet will work out great for you. We actually have felt great while being on the diet and not starving like most of the one's we have seen in the past.Check this one out I don't think you will be disappointed by it.

Title is Misleading. Not for 1990's and beyond, when Copyright is 1983.HaHa good one.
I like the content of the book itself. The diet looks very doable. If I'm successful and drop some lbs. I will update this review and let you know. I gave it three stars, b/c the description (title) leads one to believe its been revised for the 1990s and beyond. Although this cannot be true b/c the COPYRIGHT is 1983. I already own the 1983, now I have two copies b/c of the additional misleading words in the title on the decription page.

It works if you stick with it!
16 years ago as I prepared for my wedding, I was faced with losing 70 lbs. I had put that weight on in college and thanks to just bad eating habits (eating late at night, eating the wrong foods, beer, etc).My mother gave me this book because a friend of hers had read it and used it to lose weight. With nothing to lose (except fat), I decided to give it my all. Well, within a year, I had lost that 70 lbs and looked great for my wedding. I ate well exercized and changed my behaviors.I kept that weight off for over 12 years, and only recently, thanks to my slowing metabolism, have gained weight back. And you know what, I am buying this book again and starting over. This book makes buying food simple (and the food won't put you in the poor house) and makes doing what you need to simple, in order to jump start your metabolism to lose weight.I intend to lose 50 lbs and keep it off!Good luck to you!

Best diet I have ever tried.
I have used this diet in the past and have always been successful with it. I like it because it has "normal" foods and is easy to do. I am able to go out to eat and still lose weight. The weight usually stays off as long as I don't return to my habit of eating a large bowl of ice cream every night. :-) It is the best method of losing weight that I have ever tried.

It works, with determination.
I have finally received this book. I did this diet a couple of years ago and it worked, but I lost the book. Anyway I have started and so far have lost 5lbs in a week. First couple of days took a bit of time getting use to it (cutting things up and measuring) but once you are over that it's all good. I would recommend, but remember it is more than likely coming from the USA and it took ages to arrive about 4 wks so if you are in a hurry to get started, the wait will become frustrating.
