Bought TWO Bags one was STALE AND SMELLED STALE...
The other was just like cardboard. Chickens never touched either. We left it out by mistake and rats wouldn't even eat it. Possums too.... Ants too. lol this isn't edible!

Smells state and my chicken ran away from it
My pet chicken hates it. It also smelled stale. I trust her judgment. I would not buy this particular product again. I do, however, like Select seeds..just no this stuff....

Very empty bag
This is a HUGE bag that is not even 1/4 full. So that's a major complaint that affects my rating. It's hard to tell in the pictures but there is hardly anything in this bag.The ingredients seem ok. Nothing I'd be afraid to give my chickens, but it's really not outstanding. When I saw the name "gold'n" I was assuming it would make the yolks more orange, which is really the desirable color for fresh yard eggs. But the description on the bag says "bright yellow yolks," which you will get from the wheat and other grains in this product, but really that's not what you should be aiming for in a backyard flock, that's what commercial chickens are fed and what you get from grocery store eggs. There's total honestly in this product, but it's really not what I want for my free range flock. I definitely should have looked at this more closely before ordering. I will again say that there's nothing in this that is bad for chickens, it's just a mediocre product that's not boosting their nutrition like it appears at first glance. Probably wouldn't recommend.

Really does make yolks more yellow
This is the first supplement we’ve ever used with our chickens to get them to lay eggs with more yellow yolks. We have a small flock and each chicken lays a different color egg so I can confirm which chicken lays which egg.As instructed on the package, I only supplemented approximately 5-10% of their feed with this. We started this supplement a week ago and I noticed after approximately 5 days, some of the chickens egg outer egg colors started becoming more pigmented in color. Curious I got one of the eggs from last week and compare it with today’s eggs. In the picture are two eggs from the same hen. It is hard to tell but the eggshell on the right is slight more pigmented than the one on the left. The second picture shows the raw eggs and sure enough the yolk on the right is more yellow. The third picture is of the eggs cooked again with the right egg being the more yellow (the left egg got flipped upside down so the yolk looks a little wonky). There was definitely more yolk flavor for the egg on the right as well.Overall I’m happy to report that this supplement does indeed help make more yellow and tastier yolks.

Kind of on the expensive end at $7.50-$8 per pound and no difference in eggs so far.
I don't have too much to report on this one honestly. It's kind of pricey and it weighs just under 2 lbs. It's currently $14.99 or $7.50 per pound. Since it's a little under 2 lbs, it's closer to $8 per pound and it just seems expensive to me for what I got.The girls pick at it, but it doesn't seem to really draw them in to it as a must have. My bag had a lot of green color to it, kind of like Timothy hay pellets can have and a scent that reminds me of fresh cut lawn or grain. Maybe fresh cut hay.The ingredients seem alright, but nothing in the ingredients really stood out to me as an egg or yolk booster. I haven't noticed any difference in the yolk color on my RIR's or Silkies. Nothing particularly different. The ingredients seem to be good quality insofar as this company avoids GMO's. The corn-free doesn't really interest me as I often let my girls have corn based treats.I don't know on this one. It seems gimmicky. I can get non-gmo feed, which is actually different from organic, at the feed store in a 50 lb bag for around $15-$20. This brand seems expensive for what it is and I just don't think the ingredient list is too far different from other brands at TSC or even RK. I'd rather spend for something else next time.

Great tasting eggs from healthy ladies!
We often think of chickens as just doing their thing, and not really need much, but we regularly forget that they don't have the space they used to have to really free-range. Also, frankly, our land isn't as healthy as it used to be... So, with this in mind, it's so important to regularly make sure our animals get what they need. We really like this, and either crushed chicken eggshells, oyster shells, or some other calcium supplement to ensure the eggs stay nice and strong. Homegrown eggs are by far and away the tastiest, and this does seem to be keeping our eggs delish just like our other store-bought supplement did! At the time of this review, it is 23.99/5lbs and since it isn't to be fed at a ratio greater than 10%, it should last quite a while. We disperse 5lbs among 100lbs of feed, so it really does go far. I LOVE that it is non-GMO and corn and soy-free. Great option!

Smells Fresh - chickens LOVE it!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This has a very strong grassy smell. That is excellent for a feed product. The inside package arrived open - not sealed. When I buy a boxed product at the grocery store, I do not want to find the inner sealed packaging open - but this one was.As a buyer I would want to know that the package is not sealed correctly on the inside because this is a food product. The lower zip lock seal works to reseal the food for small distribution and to ensure freshness from day to day.The chicken food itself appears to be excellent quality.Updates will follow when the golden eggs arrive.Update: Chickens are enjoying the food. We chose to mix it with their regular feed because of how rich the vitamin content was. The eggs are getting darker, so we are impressed.

My chickens love this food, I give it as a treat to them.
Can’t tell y’all to much about this chicken food but can say my chickens love this food. I give it to them for a treat daily with their regular food.I have 16 chickens and 3 roosters. All my hens lay eggs which I collect daily. They are free range chickens and pretty much roam my land all day until nigh which they go to their coop and I lock them up for the night to repeat in the morning. This Small Pet Select food has to be good for my chickens and during winter I figured this food being a premium item would help them through the cold months. Haven’t noticed much but they do seem happy and I can guarantee you that your chickens will love this stuff like mine do.
