This book makes understanding pros and cons to several types of methodologies in psychology research understandable. I love that it breaks down the information in clear and logical chapters. This book covers both qualitative and quantitative methods and discusses validity and reliability in term that are meaningful to the beginning level psychology researchers. This book is a good refresher for those who have been away from such research for a while and is a manageable introduction to those who are just starting out in this field. I recommend this as a supplement book if the required text is wordy or hard to understand. This will make the concepts clear and it gives examples of the concepts, which is always helpful! I wish some area of content were covered more in depth regarding pros and cons to each style of research design, but for the price and purpose, this is a good buy. New to research, this book has been a blessing. Easy to use

How anyone could make research methods funny, clear, and concise is beyond me, but the authors did it. No, there is no way to dumb down a topic that is inherently complicated and intricate process. Over simplifying it would be misleading and insult the community for it was written. As a social worker, I appreciate the real life examples, sarcasm, and humor! Thanks. I will most certainly read their other publication Psychology Statistics For Dummies.

I study my research methods lesson together with my rm lesson book. And with the advises and tips, this book is very useful.

I bought this book as an additional resource as previous ones have been extremely helpful. This one didn't explain the information any better than my course textbook.

I found an inaccurate definition and am now skeptical about the accuracy of the rest of the book. Luckily, I knew the definition in question, but there is a lot that I do not know and if I learn it incorrectly from this book, that defeats the whole purpose of purchasing the book. I would definitely like a refund.The book defines the Hawthorne effect, referring to it as the "demand characteristic" aka "demand effect" aka "observer effect", which is incorrect and it did not associate it with the "mere measurement effect," which it actual is. Then, the book contradicts itself with the correct definition.Frustrating.

If you are struggling to get your head around research methods then buy this book it is a life saver!It breaks everything down so simply and then builds it back up again so you can understand it.Between this and the lecture slides I passed research methods.

Absolute life saver for my first ever masters research proposal. The research is public health related and not psychology but this book really helped me understand the minefield of methodologies out there! Recommend!
