*IF* you have a better DAC on your receiver than you have on your source, then you need one of these. Build quality on these is very good.Do I think this sounds better than other Digital Audio Coaxial Cables? NO. I think they all sound the same IF they are built right. This one is built right and it's a definite improvement over the analog outputs of my CD and DVD players regardless of cable. YMMV.I'm using with a Sony DVD player and Denon CD player into a Yamaha RX-V659 receiver which uses a Burr Brown DAC.

I have an older TV that I wanted to channel through an even older home theater systen. This did the trick.

Used this cable to make an audio-only connection from a Sony Blu-Ray player to a digital input on a Denon DRA-800H stereo receiver. Connections feel snug, and appear solid. The audio result is indistinguishable from the audio component of players connection over HDMI.
