A wonderful read!!!!

They seek to find out whats happening and he needs to do one thing protect Finley and keep his heart in tact and his mind on the game it seems these guys are playing. Finley is a Forensic Anthropologist and is called out when a dead body is found and it brings back a situation that seems to hit to close to home for her and she knows she need to fight the demons of the past and get to the bottom of this murder. But when things start happening it appears that someone has it out to stop them at no cost. Will Finley, Griffin and his friends be able to find the killers and bring them to justice or will one of them end up dead?Oh My gosh what can I say about this book, from the first page it had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed this book just when you think you have the story figured out the author throws in a twist to the story. The author does an amazing job at keeping you hooked on the story till the very end. I can't wait to read more from these friends. The twist and turns in the story truly will keep wanting more and keeps you guessing till the very end. This book is listed as a romance suspense, while there is a ton of suspense in the book there is not a whole lot of romance but the way its played out is very natural and doesn't seemed forced at all, and its the perfect amount. You really can not go wrong with this book its a good clean read with a suspense add to the mix.

Great book
In college, Griffin McCray and his three best friends had their lives planned out. Griffin and Luke Gallagher would join the Baltimore Police Department, Declan Grey would head to the FBI, and Parker Mitchell would study to become a crime scene analyst. But then Luke vanished before graduation and their world--and friendships--crumbled.Now years later, Griffin has left the police and his friendships behind. Still trying to forget a case that went bad when he was a SWAT team sniper, he's living a quiet life as a park ranger at Gettysburg. Quiet until skeletal remains are uncovered near Little Round Top--and they aren't Civil War-era.Griffin just wants the case to go away, but charming forensic anthropologist Finley Scott discovers evidence pointing to the work of an expert sniper. When FBI agent Declan Grey steps in to take over the case, past and present collide. Griffin soon realizes he'll need to confront some of the darkest days of his life if he--and those he cares about--are going to escape a downward spiral of crime, danger, and murder.I loved this book. There was just the right amount of mystery and romance. The story was mainly about Griff and Finley. Griff is running away from what he considers his cowardice when he was on the swat team. Finley is trying to overcome her fear of an incident that happened several years ago. She is a strong independent woman who won’t let fear dictate her life. I liked how you were told what was going on in the heads of the characters. It was not over done like a lot of books. Declan and Parker was also introduced. They also had important parts in the story. The mystery couldn’t have been solved without them. I look forward to reading their stories in the books to come.I recommend this book to everyone.I was given this book by the publisher for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Unanimous thumbs up from my book club!
Cold Shot by Dani Pettrey was By The Book’s June selection. My book club gave it a unanimous thumbs up for likable characters, non-stop action and an unpredictable plot. A great book for beach or poolside reading, this one gets our unequivocal recommendation.A cold case soon becomes almost too hot too handle when a body is discovered on Little Round Top at the Gettysburg National Battleground site. Ranger Griffin McCray and forensic anthropologist Finley Scott join forces to determine the identity of the victim and bring to justice those who killed her. But with a slew of bad guys, tension between old friends and past trauma, this case is neither straightforward nor easy.My group loved the main characters in Cold Shot, but also those secondary characters we are hoping will get novels of their own. Most are Christians who struggle with trust in a Father they know is good, but lets them experience pain and tragedy and exhibits His strength through their weakness. Both Griffin and Finley turn to God in prayer to guide their lives and discover the truth. Short chapters keep the action going, making this a page-turner with enough twists and turns to keep the characters and the reader off-balance. The depravity of the bad guys is discussed, but never graphically. You get chills, but no nightmare-inducing images. There was only one complaint expressed by all in our group — we have to wait 7 more months for book 2, Still Life, to come out!Cold Shot is a winner from our new favorite author, Dani Pettrey. Grab your copy for your next weekend getaway.Recommended!Audience: adults.(Thanks to Bethany House Publishers for the copy I received through their book club coordinator program. Jeremiah 17: 7-10
I really enjoyed this book! I loved Griffin and Finley's characters. They each had a past that haunted them, and each had special skills that connected them. I was thrilled with the mystery and suspense in the storyline. And the identity of the villains was completely obscured. I also appreciated the camaraderie between Griffin and his childhood friends. The strong friendship and inspiration were priceless. I look forward to the next one in this his series.

Excellent start to the series.
This is book one of the story of the 'pirate's clan' a group of friends consisting of Griffin, Declan, Parker and Luke. A friendship that was torn apart by tragedy and Luke's disappearance. Now the three friends are reunited by a murder and one courageous obstinate woman. Enter charming forensic anthropologist Finley Scott. The only way to solve this murder is by utilising all their talents if they can stop fighting long enough and if Griffin McCray hot park ranger can stop himself from being distracted by Finley. I dont normally like Christian romance but thoroughly enjoyed this one. The moral to this story is the hurts of the past can be healed by love if you are prepared to open your heart. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series as this book although a standalone romance does end with a bit of a cliffhanger.

I just like Dani's writing
I just like Dani's writing. This story seemed to be eventful from page to page. We get to meet the guys/ gals who work in different agency around law enforcement. We get to learn slowly some of the issues that have driven the guys apart n how regret n forgiveness seem conflicting. (I had high hopes they were digging up there friend who disappeared from college but I'm sure Dani's going to make us all wait as she writes the series)
