Arthritic Rescue Beagle Appreciates Bowl
Beagle Bailey is nearly fourteen years old, and he's been with us for a year, courtesy of Seattle Beagle Rescue. When his owner died and the relatives were going to pack him off to Animal Control, I was asked if I'd take him as a foster dog. I agreed. After the better part of a year, I told the rescue that I'd hang onto Bailey Boo till the bitter end. I've had old dogs before, but for some reason I didn't get the memo about their poor old spines not being comfortable reaching down to the floor for food and water. I saw the elevated dishes some pet owners used, but I chalked it up to some folks having too much disposable income. That was true, anyway, till Bailey had to lie down on the floor to drink his water late one evening. I said, "Oh." I said, "Sorry, old man. I get it now."Today this bowl arrived, and after cleaning the silver metal liner with soap and hot water, I put Bailey's dinner--a raw meat mixture with a raw chicken gizzard on top like a cherry on a sundae--in front of him. Suddenly, one of his favorite parts of the whole day was so much easier.I am favorably pleased at how heavy the base is. My other beagle, Ox the Oversized Beagle Pup has been known to run off with dog dishes (and other things) made of synthetic composites and chew the heck out of them; he's even carried heavy ceramic dishes away. I strongly considered buying the dog dishes in metal stands instead, because cast iron is about the only thing that Ox can't destroy when he's on a tear. But between the heft and the shape of this thing--only one good place for anyone to get purchase on it, and Ox hasn't found the one raised finger-hold, apparently--there's no problem. I don't leave it on the floor between feedings, but if all continues to go well, I will buy another one or two for water dishes.Other reviewers have noted that the metal lining is very lightweight. I have observed this in other dog dishes billed as being made of steel, also. Steel used to mean hard as nails; now it means slightly thicker than aluminum. But this isn't posing a problem for Bailey, and frankly my arthritic fingers are grateful that it's so easy to scoop out of its base and wash it. I haven't tried running it through the dishwasher because I preferred to wash it by hand.

Really works. High quality. Bought another one for upstairs.
I bought Size Small in Off-White (it’s listed as White, but it is an off-white color, which I still really like) for my 18 lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He is about 13 inches at the shoulder and Size Small is a perfect size for him. Once I saw that this water bowl really does keep his ears dry, I bought another bowl for upstairs. Highly recommended.

Large bowls work well for our Pug mixes!
After reading many of the reviews, I went ahead and ordered the bowls in a size large for my medium sized dogs (Pug/Beagle mixes). They are the perfect height for them! They are definitely fast eaters and this has seemed to slow down the inhalation. I went with the color black which is true to color. The description seems to indicate they are intended for large dog breeds, but I don’t think they would be high enough off the ground for them to call this an "elevated" dish. The bowl itself is bigger than what I really needed (I feed my dogs 1/2 cup of food, 2x per day), but if you measure out your food, it's not really a problem.Overall, the bowls are functioning great and are really well made. They are nice looking for a dog bowl and you can easily wash the actual bowl by placing them in your dishwasher. The exterior stand can be whipped down with some soap and water. They are also heavy enough that my dogs can't "kick" their bowls around the kitchen anymore, which is an added bonus.I've attached some photos to better illustrate size and height of the bowls.

Monty (my 16 year old pug) Loves it!
Love this! Granted I just got it today and my 16 year old pug has eaten out of it just once. But! He was able to eat so much easier. I was worried that it would be a bit to tall for him (i measured him before I bought it) but that was not the case. He is slightly bigger/taller than your average pug. Not as big as a puggle, but still big none the less weighing 26lbs in his prime. Now down to 22lbs with his health declining. That is a big reason for this style bowl try out. With the dish being elevated he did not have to bend down to eat so eating did not tire him out as much. I still had to keep pushing the food back to the center of the dish (when he would raise his head long enough) for him but was having to do that anyway with his regular floor metal dog dish.Another big plus is that I did not have to hold the outside of it to keep him from it from pushing all over the floor. It stayed in one place and upright just fine. So that helped me not get covered in dog food. lol He has lost most his teeth so he kind of has to "toss" his head back to get the food down his throat. (dog food push to center timing is important)So even though used only once it got a 5 star review from not only myself, but Monty as well!!!!When I get enough I will be sure to get another one of these for my dwarf pit JJ. I think this size may be to small for my regular reverse brindle pit Soldier Girl though.5 stars and 2 thumbs up!Update: 4/15/2018On 12/5/2017 with breaking hearts we had to let Monty go. We will always miss him and it still hurts badly. He was just two weeks short of his 17th birthday. The reason for this update is that now our getting to be a little old lady 12 year old boxer/pit mix is now using the dish. She is taller and bigger than Monty but she started showing signs of not being comfortable bending down floor level to eat. This bowl allows her to eat more comfortably and her mouth fits just fine it it. It remains 5 stars.

Misleading sizing, totally useless for a medium sized dog.
I purchased 2 of the 900ml Dogit 2-in-1 Dish / Bowls for my two Labradors. The dimensions advertised for the 300ml capacity are 9.4 x 16.5 x 16.5 cm, specifying the height from the floor as @ 9cm.The 900ml bowls, aimed at the larger dogs are advertised as 17 x 21.8 x 21.8 cm, with the height from the floor as 17cm.Based on the information given it would be reasonable to assume that the diameter of the actual feeding part of the item, would either be 16.5 x 16.5cm for the smaller item or 21.8 x 21.8 cm for the larger dog.In reality the actual stainless steel dish for the larger 900ml item is, giving the most generous measurements that I could, 16cm diameter (that includes the outer rim of the dish), so more like 14.5 cm in diameter, with the depth / height of the bowl at a maximum of 6cm (again including the rim of the bowl, it’s only use is to sit the bowl within the container as it has no bearing on the actual size of the bowl for the dog to eat from), so again, the real depth of the bowl is more in the region of 5.5cm, and that is being generous. On attempting to feed both dogs the biggest issue is that the size of their nose / mouth, is far too large to actually fit in the bowl to obtain the food. The height of the item itself was fine, but to be honest the item is in my view only suitable either for a smaller dog (although it may be too high for smaller breeds), or a slightly larger breed which has a smaller / flatter face to enable it to access the food.Fortunately the items were reduced in the sale, as clearly I have attempted to use them and therefore they are not suitable for return, and returning such items is just more hassle, having to re-pack the bowls / arrange and wait in all day on the off-chance the courier arrives to collect.I’ve put this purchase down to experience, frustrated about the money wasted and in the future to disregard the manufacturers write up. I think these items are most likely candidates for the local animal charity, hopefully they can be put to some use.

Good bowl for the price
This is half the price of other bowels of the same size. I got it to help my shar pei so the wrinkles aren't pushing down on her eyes when her heads down to eat. Really pleased with it so iv orderd another for our staffi cross. Iv added the pic for a size guide

For taller breeds
I have a Gordon Setter, a tall dog. For a few years we have used those plastic bowls with the humps and bumps to encourage slow eating. He’s gone through two. He sneaks off with his dish, when he can, and chews it. So, I decided to get a more robust one. This one intrigued me as it gives height for big dogs, which makes sense. When it arrived, though I’d picked the largest, I thought it had a really small bowl. However, as he gets his meal split in two it actually was fine for what he eats. I think he is quite happy with his food being a bit further from the floor too.The metal bowl at the top comes out very easily. The blue stand has a rubber non slip ring on the base and two curves for picking it up.We’re very happy with it.

Check the bowl size!
As others have said, the height and construction of the feeder are good, but the size of the bowl lets it down. I bought this for a bearded collie (medium size dog, ordered the large feeder) but the bowl is really too small - it would be useful for future purchasers if the dimension of the bowl was given as well as its capacity. As my dog has 4 small feeds a day the capacity isn't an issue, but the bowl size is.
