Many Sony cameras can read the battery you're using and will spit error codes at you for using generic or non-Sony batteries. However, these batteries play nice with my high end camcorder. They last long and hold a decent charge while idle/in storage. I don't see any justification to paying for Sony batteries when these work just as well (and save you money). Sony will try to scare you that generic batteries have no standards or quality control and may damage your device. I don't believe it. They just want you to buy their batteries. This is definitely worth the buy.
