The real thing, super easy to grow if you know how
If you know how to germinate Spicy Thai Basil this is a lot of seeds for the money. If not, I doubt if any will grow. Planted less than 1/2 and after 6 days had at least 1,000 sprouting plants in 5 small window containers. More than 90% success rate. I have been growing Bai Krapow for several years and this is only the 2nd time I have had to purchase seeds as I did not allow any plants to flower and seed last season. If you don't let them seed plants can last years and keep giving leaves. If you let them seed they die. Suggest letting one or more mature and each plant will have multiple thousand seeds for future planting.Photos: Spent 5-6 weeks indoors in small containers reaching a height of 5". Transplanted to garden bed only 2 weeks prior to this photo where they have already doubled in size. Third photo 8 weeks later. Close up photo shows some plants already have mature leaves. Fourth photo at 4-1/2 months. Once established new leaves will grow this large and ready for harvest every 7-14 days. By only spacing 6" instead of 12" this bed will ultimately become much like a solid hedge, filling the entire planter box.Tip for those who report zero success rate "bad seeds!"These do not grow normally by simply throwing out on the land or planting 1 or 2 seeds per hole outdoors and hoping for the best. What I do and always have done with great success is wet germinate in potting soil. Use really damp soil. Spread a pinch of about 50-100-200 on top and cover with 1/4 inch of potting soil. Keep damp and place in a window sill. Keep damp, and I mean damp (wet enough for standing water that soaks in within an hour) every day and keep in a well sunlit warm window. Takes about 6 days and you will get sprouts with 2 opposed leaves. Requires more than 1 or 2 months before they grow to 4-6" and can be transplanted outdoors. So you need to start early in the season for maximum growth. If you don't let them freeze, and remove flowers before they seed and die the stocks will grow to as much as 1/2 thick and appear to have a dark brown bark before the first season ends.

DOESN'T smell or taste like Thai Basil
The seeds took well and grew well. I have a thriving basil plant, but the leaves do taste or smell like thai basil leaves. So this leaves me with a plant that I cannot use to make the thai food I've been waiting to make.

Was not holy basil
Arrived fast and no issues with shipping. Seeds germinated and no problem there. Once the plants got big enough I started to be concerned it wasn’t what was advertised. The leaves were different and I tried a piece and quickly spit it out. It’s not basil. A weed at best. The rest of the plants I left in smaller pots and didn’t water. They stayed alive for over a month without much water. Very strong plant which again based on reviews of how fragile these plants can be made me more concerned I hadn’t got holy basil.

The real thing
A few years ago I bought 3 different types of Thai Holy Basil and planted them on my patio in 3 separate containers. By midsummer they were all growing well. Two friends came over from Thailand for a visit, the wife being a spectacular Thai cook. I showed them the 3 different basils I had grown and they looked them over very carefully, inspected the leaves, smelled them , tasted them and after about 15 minutes of discussion told me that this basil is the authentic Thai basil, Kraprow, and to prove it she made incredibly delicious Pad Kraprow Gai for dinner.

I am still waiting for them to sprout, I ...
I am still waiting for them to sprout, I hope the weather here wasn’t too cold when they were delivered. If they don’t sprout I’ll try ordering another batch in the spring when weather is warmer. I want to grow this, a lot, I know holy basil works, I just want to grow it myself. And share with others who need it desperately instead of taking Dr. pills.
