Maxxis Minion DHF Mountain Bike Tire | 20, 24, 26, 27.5, 29 in 2.3–2.8 WT, Dual Compound, EXO Protection, E25, Tubeless Ready

I normally run Maxxis on my bike and wanted to get something more aggressive for my son's bike at 20 inches. His current bike is the Rei rev coop 20 inch mtb with 2.6 tires. So the change over was super easy, currently running tubes, but plan on going tubeless so I did get some smaller tubes. Installation was super easy. Compared to the previous tires the DHR 2 and DHF are a huge improvement in traction, little less cushion but not by much. I was hoping to reduce the inseam clearance by an inch or two and this change definitely did that. Additionally the tires just pop out they make the bike look so much better. Lots of pros and cons on the rei bike but I am here to review the tires and even though they were a little pricy it was definitely worth it and I would highly recommend getting better tires for your kids. I ran the dhr in the rear with the dhf up front. Have to say my son is in love with the way it looks and rides, and it has improved his confidence by having better traction.

This tire has been great. I have them on my old Trek (pictured) and my Pivot, and Giant. I bought this 26x2.4 for the old bike and it has made a huge difference in traction and handling. the old tire was worn and a 2.1". I didn't think the .3 would make much of a difference but it really has. I am running the DHF front and rear. and they work great for me. Running this tubeless so that part was easy to set up, getting them on is a little work, not much but with some tire levers, it popped right on the rim. no issues with a bunch of riding on them.

These were great, but at my local trails you have to climb to get to the fun, which unfortunately made these less fun. I ended up switching to something lighter, but if I didn’t have to climb so much I would switch back to these for sure, super grippy

I have a specialized stump jumper and love the way these tires work and look. They are durable allowing me to mountain bike through all sorts of terrain. Enjoy!

Great price A higher end tire than the photo offered.

Not so good first. Was planning on running a DHF and DHR combo so I ordered them separately from one another. I had to wait about three days extra for the DHF to come in and it ended up being a DHR with a sticky tab that said DHF on it. However, for them being the same price and it being in stock in my size I wasn’t gonna complain cause I just wanted new shoes and wanted them ASAP. Boy howdy I tell you what Maxxis makes one hell of a tire!!! The DHR’s work amazing!!! As for install I just took them to the shop. Not gonna go much more into it since these aren’t DHFs. Won’t give five stars because it wasn’t exactly what I ordered. Trek X-caliber 8 2021 29” 2.3
