Such a sweet book!
If you are not familiar with Hairy Maclary, please check out this book (or one of his other adventures). They are very sweet stories, easy to read to a small child, with beautiful illustrations. The rhymes are always great and kids love the getting to know the animals that appear (and reappear) in all of Hairy Maclary's adventures. Absolutely one of our favorites kids' books ever.

Fantastic story my toddlers love
I have three kids under five, and all three LOVE Harry Maclary, and this book in particular. It is an adorable story that is very well told. The rhymes aren't over the top, but make the book memorable. My oldest practically has the book memorized, and "reads" to the other two. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

Great book or toddlers, or nice to read to them when they are younger too.
Daughter loved this book! Funny, clever, nice illustrations. A must read for toddlers, or nice to read to them when they are younger too.

WE Love Lynley Dodd!
There is something very sweet and fun to Dodd's writing. When I read his books aloud to my children, I must apply my best Aussie accent (which isn't very good) just for effect. It seems the correct thing to do. We adore all of his stories!

My 15 month old loves this book
We are major Lynley Dodd fans at this household! This book, like all the others in the series, has great illustrations (always on the left side with the words always on the right, which can be helpful) and Dodd's usual, big vocabulary and rollicking poetry. That said, it is not the strongest plot of series. Hairy Maclary tries to hide from a little duckling called Zachary Quack, but the duck always finds him. When Hairy accidently gets stuck in the pond, Zachary Quack shows him the way out and they take an afternoon snooze together. I'm not sure my 15 month old son understands what is happening as well as he understands the clear, and simple plots of the Hairy Maclary books we own. However, to him that doesn't matter- he absolutely ADORES the repetition of lines about Zachary Quack ("Pittery Pattery/ Skittery Scattery/ ZIP!") and enjoys trying to find both of the characters on each page where the dog is hiding. If you are on the fence about the book, you'll not regret getting it. Sure to become a staple come time to read together.

I love reading this to my son!
This is a brilliant book to read to children of all ages. Lynley Dodd uses memorable rhyme that has a lovely humour. An adult reader won't get tired reading this again, and again, and again... as is the case with books for little ones!

Awesome book
I discovered this book when watching an ABC video of it being read on Play School. It is a cute story, and my daughter loves the way the words are used & are fun to say - eg ‘pittery, pattery, zip!’. Very cute illustrations of a friendship between a dog and a duckling. Great size board book that is compact and can be taken along when on the go.

Highly recommend!
Love these books. Great rhymes. There are a lot of little noses and tails hiding on the edge of the pictures which are fun for little ones to find.

This is my favourite Hairy Maclary book
This is my favourite Hairy Maclary book. But all the books in the collection are all brilliant. And since I am 38, and I bought it for my nieces and nephew who are aged between 2 and 4, I have to say that their favourite is Scarface Claw. There is something very pleasing about the rhyming format - great for small people that like language - the stories are fun and exciting, and the illustrations are adorable.Should be on every discerning toddler's book shelf.
