Was just enough for dulce calabazas. Was hoping it was larger but it worked out

Delicious. Maybe not all that different or all that better than plain old US granulated brown sugar, and, of course, more expensive. In Colombia I believe that the popularity of panela is due to its being not only good, but extremely cheap. As an experiment I also bought some "jaggery" from an Indian ethnic market and I did not like it as well.
