A good size for travelling, magnetic and seemingly well made

For £16 I was expecting this to be rubbish. For the money, it’s brilliant. The magnets hold the pieces while your train / car / ferry bounces you around or you move your game to another room. Two promotion queens are included and the boards folds out perfectly flat. There’s only one small problem and that’s the catch mechanism sticking out when laid on a surface. This WILL scratch your antique walnut dining table. However, I’ve placed a dust cloth in the box, intending to place this underneath to solve the problem. For £16 I’m absolutely not returning this, it’s just a shame. I would definitely recommend this though, and intend to get lots of use from it. Happy castling!

It's the perfect size to travel with without the pieces being so small that it's annoying to play. The magnets work really well for each piece. The set also came with two queens and checker pieces, and all pieces hold really snug in the foam molds when the set is closed. There is a smell that is something like real wood mixed with glue and plastic but it smells like every other wood-like set I've played before. Nothing too strong. The pieces aren't all perfect or created with master craftsmanship but for the price and purpose of the set, it's not noticeable nor does its imperfections get in the way of playing a good game.

Very nice product for the price. Magnets work as advertised. Strong, but not so much that moving pieces is uncomfortable. I'd say they got the magnet strength spot on. Very nice to be able to move or set aside and not worry about pieces flying. I think that "exquisite" pieces might be overselling, but I will say a very attractive set and the pieces feel good in the hand, smooth and nice size and weight for the size of the set. The extra queen for each side is a nice touch and the checkers were also a great bonus for this set. Note: checkers are not magnetic, only the chess pieces. Also, the board won't lie flat with checkers in so you might want to remove them to play.

This is a small, but well made board. The pieces store inside and it came with extra queens. The magnetic pieces stay in place amazingly well. You can actually turn the board upside down and they stay put. Very nice.

I wanted my son to have a light weight set to take to school, friends and places to play. He's in chess league and it has been a good set to travel with. Small and lightweight but not too small.

A lot smaller than i expected but its cute and convenient for traveling, so it does its job lol
