Great sound. Easy to play.
The mouthpiece came wrapped in plastic (yay clean!). The body seemed a little smudged, but I didn't mind considering the price. It ships from overseas (Europe). But it seemed high quality for such a low price, I feel like they almost had to be losing money with shipping. I started learning songs as soon as I opened it.

Nice variation in tone from a standard D whistle.
Very nice whistle and very well made. Definitely mellower than my Feadog D with a slightly larger tube diameter. (Actually, the Feadog will slip right inside the Waltons Mellow D.)Not as bright and sharp but that's a good feature. Have whistle, Will travel...
I was looking for a small 'flute' type instrument to play in the woods when hiking/camping and lazy days.I ordered 2 whistles just to try - this one and the 'Clarke CWD Celtic Tin Whistle, Key of D'.Both seem made well and are fairly durable. Very easy to play for sure.I read reviews saying this brass one sounded more 'metallic' in its tone and the Clarke's a bit softer...I actually like the brass sound/look/feel a little better meself.I sanded the coating off the brass and smoothed the edges with 220 & 400 grit, and; once it develops a patina, way cool.I purchased the Clarke since it is actually 'tin' and is very authentic/original and to have a comparison for a fair review.I don't care for the tapered effect of the Clarke, but I wear large size gloves and it is a bit narrow at the end for me fingers. In closing, if you are looking for a whistle in D, I like this one. But, they are affordable enough you don't have to limit yourself to one.

Good whistle but...
Easy to play, reaches into the second octave easily, has a good sound, but it has some kind of clear coating which wears off quickly. The places where you touch the whistle quickly oxidize leaving it splotchy looking.

Superb
The best inexpensive whistle I've ever had.Brass has always sounded best to me, and this one is tunable with a movable mouthpiece that comes off for easy cleaning. I mistakenly bought this not realising it was 'bigger' than the standard whistle. I was worried and expecting an unattractive bulky kids style whistle, that was not the case as there is barely any difference, just a few millimetres more in diameter and the mouthpiece is slightly longer. It has the beautiful clear sound to be expected of a brass whistle.

Nice sturdy whistle
I am learning the tin whistle, and had heard the Mellow D whistle was better than Walton's regular D. It does seem slightly easier to play. I'm not sure if it sounds different. Since the whistles are inexpensive I am experimenting to see what different sounds come from each whistle and how each plays. The first one I received was damaged (the end opposite the mouthpiece was pinched in) but Amazon sent a replacement and a mailing label so I could send the other one back. I think they should send this in a small box instead of the padded envelope, as I'm certain that is how the first one was damaged in transit.
