Edenbrooke: A Proper Romance

Cute, predictable romance, but overpriced.
A cute enough read with few deviations from the predictable plot. The writing was clean, although fairly basic. The heroine annoyed me, at times, and I never want to hear the word 'twirl' again. This story felt like all the author's research came from other people's work: Pride and Prejudice, Bridgerton etc and there was even THE line from Bridget Jones! However, I enjoyed the gentle romance and it kept me turning the pages.BUT - I'm sorry to the author - I didn't feel it warranted the price. Frankly, all authors ought to be able to charge Donaldson's prices, but that's not the way sales go, these days. Consequently, I begrudged paying way more for this than more meaty and better written and researched novels. When you're charging double the price of Diana Gabaldon's 'Outlander' your book better be pretty darn good!

A true romance
if you don’t like romance novels this will not be a read for you. But for someone who like to escape the dull swipe culture we are so surrounded nowadays, this might be a welcome find. I read this book in less than two days and only because I had to do some work in between..a wonderful read that filled me with warm romance

Refreshing Romance Story
Loved it, total romantic escapism. The story was beautifully written in the first person. Loved the main characters, even the secondary characters were vital to the story. The book for me was new and refreshing. I would highly recommend for anyone who wants an uncomplicated romance. Unfortunately this book has ruined me for all other historical romances. This one is going to be hard to beat!

Twins, one 7 minuets older gets all she wants from her sister who thinks she should because she ir the eldest. This started when they were young. When as young ladies and the second twin falls in love with a man her sister wants for a title estate and money, she is prepared to go along as she has always done giving in ti her sister until she see's her sister in a different light. With a highway man and a wicked cousin in the mix, it is an excellent story. Good author.

Sweet and refreshing romance
I started to read this...and then finished it in one sitting! A lovely read with all the elements of a Jane Austen but with more modern language which makes it easier to read but in no way takes away from the period in which it is set. A delightful novel with wonderful characters - just a sweet and refreshing romance....enough tension in the novel to keep one turning the pages with a hope in one's heart that it will end in the way one wishes - a great young adult novel

Better for younger readers
I wouldn’t normally leave a bad review, but for the price I paid for this on kindle I was quite disappointed. It’s a nice little story but if you’re looking for something of the standard of Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer it’s more like a fast food version of one of their novels. It’s just rather twee. Would be perfect for a teen as it’s clean and promotes respect and morals.

another disappointing book
Despite the good reviews which this book has received it fails to entertain this reader. The heroine's twirlings are most tiresome!! The book brings to mind Stephen Leacock's very funny parody of romantic novels "Winsome Winnie".
