Great for controlling a tempering oven
I bought this PID controller to replace a much cheaper Chinese one that simply would not work. This controller took a lot of fiddling with to get tuned, but it now does a superb job. Essentially, I have this controller installed in a separate job box along with a solid state relay (SSR) which my insulated toaster oven (Oster 1440 watt 0.3cf) is plugged into. The controller effectively turns power on and off to the toaster oven as a whole. The unit doesn't come with a paper manual, so I had to print one off their website. The manual was very helpful towards clarifying some of the parameters. The autotune did not work for me, despite probably 12 tries. I called Auber Instruments customer service a few times for help. They did provide some suggestions of where to start and responded within a day. In the end, for my insulated 0.3cf 1440 watt toaster oven with a target temperature of 375 F, I landed on the following parameters if somehow this helps anyone P=37; I=1750; D=70. Also, I'm using a K type thermocouple.

Awesome
Worked like it should. Understood somewhat what I was doing. When I needed help I called the company and they were excellent to deal with. A+++

Works perfectly!
Using this and a scr to control a 1000w heating element for a large fish tank, it stays exactly at the set temperature. I’m not using the pid function. I have it set to direct and to control within .2 degrees of setpoint. If your using this on something that changes temperature fast it will probably require the pid function. But it also has an auto tune function so pid setup would be quick and easy. In my application I can’t allow the temperature to drift so it can run the calculations by itself due to the fact I’m using it for a fish tank.

Good unit. Many functions. Makes hitting temps easier.
Used this to control temp in an electric brewing setup. It has many functions, which I don't have a need for at the moment, but they are there. The set temp and actual temp never seem to match. Always off by two degrees or so but close enough for brewing. Not sure if it is the fault of the thermocouple I used or the PID. Easy to use and wire. Collar holds unit in project box without any tools needed, which was nice. I have brewed a few 10 gallon batches with this now and it makes brewing a bit easier through automation. I don't need to monitor temp as closely or fire up burners constantly to maintain temp.

Awesome PID for Homebrewing
I used this PID to replace one that got damaged by lightning. This PID was an exact replacement, and works great. The price is comparable to all other PIDs, but the next day delivery is awesome.

Couldn’t be happier with it!
This thing has worked perfectly from day one. It took a little research and reading to realize the thermocouple amazon stated was a k-type was actually a pt100. But once I adjusted the settings for the appropriate thermocouple and ran an auto-tune, it’s worked great!

It works great, keeps the temp about +/-1 degree
I used this to retrofit a large toaster oven for doing some in-house elevated temperature testing for electronics design. It works great, keeps the temp about +/-1 degree. Very easy to use and set up.

Absolutely terrible service
Unbelievably disappointed with Auber Instruments. I ordered this controller, and it did not work properly. I contacted Auber Instruments, and they instructed me to send it back to them. So I paid to ship it back to them. They replied that it was my fault that and that they could not issue a refund. I had the thing wired exactly how the manual instructed me to wire it. 100% sure it was not my fault. I would reccomend people STAY AWAY from dealing with Auber Instruments. Customer service could not be worse.
