Inside The Metal Detector

Worth the Price
Inside The Metal Detector is a well-organized book on metal detecting suitable for DIYers, autodidacts. I was surprised, it was better than I expected for such a peripheral topic. I enjoy reading this kind of book which reminded me of other curious books like Paul Nahin's The Science of Radio, and Homer Tilton's The 3-D Oscilloscope. Even as I'm still devouring the second edition of ITMD, I eagerly await the third.

Second edition: Great book.
This is a great book to explain the design of metal detectors. Included are Beat Frequency Oscillator, Induction Balance, Pulse Induction types. It also includes chapters on historical designs, an Off Resonance probe, coil design, discrimination, miscellaneous subjects, resources. There are numerous circuit designs, diagrams and building tips. Why not just buy the first edition? In the introduction they discuss errors in it and corrections made in the second edition. They also discuss additions and subtractions made. They report that in the second edition they left out info on Long Range Locators and Pistol Detectors, neither of which has much application to the more sharply focused hobby of the detectorist.

Anyway… this book was a great book, Thanks.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, written in a flowing, "easy to read" manner, with a large font size. The author is not writing about something he has not experienced. I also enjoyed another Metal detecting book “Metal Detector: Guidebook, by Steve Cormier” his book covered many unanswered questions I had. Anyway… this book was a great book, Thanks.

Finally- something simple and understandable!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I devoured most of it, with the intent of understanding operational theory only. My previous understanding was basic even after 30+ yrs of md. I felt like I'd been to class after reading this book. I wish I could have read something like this yrs ago. I swing with a higher conscious level of what's happening below me now.

Understanding Metal detectors
For the most part this book is very good at explaining various types of metal detectors. There are a few errors in some of the construction examples. Over all it is a very helpful learning tool.

Great product
The book was very well written and covered all the topics described with good detail. Solidly bound and a perfect size. Book came well packaged and in good time. A bit technical as you proceed but still very interesting and informative. I finished in three sessions of reading and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Ottimo manuale sui Metal Detector
