Pocket POD
Bought while deployed in Afghanistan 2011-2012. Used in place of a dedicated amp. I played through headphones and a Harman Kardon sound speaker system. Loved the different presets and the different sounds I could get out of it. Only used it on AAA batteries. After deployment I continued using it till 2014. After that something happened and AAA batteries stopped powering it. Loved it and will probably buy one again when I start playing guitar again

This thing is a ton of fun and worth every penny!
Love my POD. Easy to use and dial up the sounds you want. It's built really well, and you get a lot for the price. I use it all the time plugged into my amp as my primary practice processor.

Awkward size and don't like the double function keys
I had high hopes for this replacing my pedal board but there are a couple of things I don't like about it. It has a button clip on the back which is non-removable so makes it all but useless if you don't put it on your belt. I don't know about you but wearing something on my belt with two 1/4 inch cables is quite a feat. Add to that possible lines for headphones and an a/c adapter and you look like OctoMan.And what possible function does the kidney bean shape make other than making it odd to put down anywhere with the belt clip sticking out. The menu is accessed by using a 4 position finger pad. The main rotaries on the front have two functions depending whether you are holding another key down to access the second set. This is extremely difficult to do if you need to switch between settings in a live environment. I have had multiple mistakes and frustrations.IMHO the POD really belongs on a desktop for DAW recording. It doesn't have much value on your belt clip. Still have my effects rack.

Usable sounds in my guitar bag for practice and battery operated gigs
I own more than 15 tube amps, and was once a tube snob. But after years playing live and in recording studios, I now use the Line6 Helix as my primary rig. Modern digital kicks A**.The Pocket Pod does not sound as good as the helix, but it fits in my guitar bag and runs off batteries. I bring my guitar and a book sized iLoud speaker, and my friend (with a battery powered keyboard rig) and I can gig at the beach and attract an audience. Fun, but also sometimes that strategy filled a hall for our real band. I doubt I would record an album with the pocket pod, (although I could), but I own two of them and until Line6 ports the helix tones to a battery powered portable device, I will buy another one every time sand or rain or salt or random abuse kills them.Trust me and spend a while going through the patches, picking your favorite six and copying them into the first few patches. Do that and I would expect you to be pretty happy with this tool. I like my Helix better, but I would not be ashamed to play to a large live audience with my favorite six patches from this device.FYI, the best tiny little battery powered speaker that is flat enough to make my guitar sound OK is https://smile.amazon.com/IK-Multimedia-Portable-Personal-Speaker/dp/B00BIPL8Z2/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=iloud&qid=1598983197&sr=8-2 It is not super loud, (probably maxes out before rocking 25 people.... maybe good for gentle ambience to as many as 50) ....but within it's limits, it sounds nice.If I need more power, I use https://smile.amazon.com/4-Channel-50-Watt-Battery-Powered-Amplifier/dp/B00JMU1RAG/ref=psdc_11968291_t1_B000W22JG4 ...which is actually pretty amazing, but I like the sound of the pocket pod direct, better than it's built in amp stuff... (but maybe that is because I like to change between a bunch of different sounds.)

best choice for me, got it used
I finally decided between the Fender Mustang Micro Headphone Amplifier and the Line6 headphone amp. It boiled down to choosing between push-button multi-switches with multicolored status LEDs and rotary knobs on an ungainly kidney-shaped case that would fall over whenever touched. I am colorblind, so I opted for twisty feedback. The Fender mounts to the guitar, while the Pod connects thru a cable, less to knock off and break, we are used to cables.Very happy with the purchase, I bought this used from Amazon for $99, it had everything except the USB cord, but everyone has one of those.I did have to purchase the wall wart separately, but they warn you about that, so no biggy, I found a Line 6 DC1 Power Supply for about $25 on Amazon. Did I say happy? My wife wants to say it too, she can now sleep peacefully while I wailUpdate - The box was missing the USB cable (I have several in a box) and the CHAN/REVERB knob is sticky, hopefully it will loosen up

So Glad I Bought This!
I had a Line 6 POD that worked only on the computer and was great for effects and stuff but not the best for actually practicing away from the computer and decided it was time to change that. I considered a few different brands and even other Line 6 POD models. I even ordered a POD XT only to cancel that order when I realized that you can download tones from the Line 6 website and add them into the user memory banks for easy retrieval. As many have said, the batteries that come with it did not last long at all, but that was kind of expected. I have since been using Energizers and those are lasting long enough for my needs, plus I have a 9 volt AC adapter that works great, especially when I am recording. To use it for recording, simply output from the headphone jack to the input on your laptop or desktop computer and you'll be able to record with all the tones you could want! I downloaded a Joe Satriani sound and am so happy with it that I have already recorded myself playing one of his songs with it and it sounds great!I am not going to knock a star off for this since they obvously put a belt clip on it for a reason, but if you are like me and still like to sit it on a desk every now and then, it will not stay put by itself as it is not heavy enough, but I found that you can put two rubber bands on either side of it and it helps it to "grip" better and stay put so that it doesn't slide right off.I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend it to any guitarist out there who needs some great tones to practice with. I don't play live so I cannot say how well it would work for that.
