Back on Your Bike: All the Stuff You Need to Know to be a Cyclist Again

Lovely little book for the lapsed cyclist
After piling on the pounds during lockdown, I dragged my old bike out of the shed, as I thought it would be perfect for toning my legs and reducing my overgrown belly. However, within about three minutes, it was clear that I didn't really know the first thing about cycle maintenance or how to ride safely, which is probably why the poor thing had been confined to the garden for a decade.I came across this lovely little book while searching Amazon for something to help me get out on the road, and it's turned out to be great purchase. It manages to explain basic bike set up and maintenance in simple terms but without being patronising, gives guidance on riding safely, and suggestions about route planning and accessories. The level of detail was just right for me as I'm not particularly technically minded and I don't need too much information. It is also beautifully illustrated, with diagrams having appropriate labelling when needed.I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes the idea of cycling, but maybe lacks the confidence to rescue their old bike from the shed and get out and about.

Good read for someone returning to riding a bike
I bought this small book for someone who was returning to riding a bike after many years it is a good read and brings up in a nice style all the things that should be considered when getting on a bike again. it is well laid out and has stunning illustrations that really add to the clear writing style. Would recommend either as a present or if you are using the time in lockdown to get back on your bike. Take care and enjoy cycling again !

Very useful for the new and returning cyclist
This is an excellent up to date book on all things relating to cycling and very timely with the current push for fewer cars on the road. The author has aimed it at the new or returning cyclist, but actually I cycle regularly and have found it very useful too. The book is divided into four parts. Part one is a guide to preparing and maintaining your bike. Part two explains how to ride safely, what to wear, how to choose a lock and the rules of the road. Part three is all about the health benefits of cycling and Part four gives you some ideas on how to plan a route or a tour. All very succinct, extremely helpful and includes diagrams and drawings to illustrate all of the above. Thank you to Alan Anderson, David Sparshott, Net Galley and Laurence King Publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
