I purchased a Kwikset deadbolt for my garage and utilized their innovative SmartKey re-key technology to match the locks. This feature is fantastic as it eliminates the need to replace entire locks, saving both time and money.The process was simple and straightforward. Just make sure you have both your old and new keys on hand and follow the provided instructions carefully. Remember to insert the new key all the way in, as a slight misalignment can make locking and unlocking the door a bit difficult.I chose Kwikset specifically for the SmartKey re-key function and I was not disappointed. The deadbolt was easy to install and matched perfectly with my existing Juno handset. I particularly appreciate the design of the turning knob on the back, which eliminates the need for a setscrew to secure it in place. Overall, a solid purchase that offers both convenience and value.

I purchased two of these. Be aware, the installation instructions do not come packaged with the lock but are accessed via a QR code printed directly on the box. The instructions are also not specific to this model. Even so, it’s very easy to eyeball and with just a screwdriver and a few screws I was done. Because I wanted to use the same key on both locks, I immediately rekeyed one of them and it was very easy. The rekeying tool is packaged with the lock.
