Keeps my finger straight. The design needs basic changes. $$$!
I had two knuckles replaced due to severe arthritis, and now they are tending to bend sideways. I have tried many splints and these are very good.I did not review them as 5-stars because:(1) They could have rounded the edges so they are not sharp, but they didn’t(2) They could have made them oval, as no one’s finger is round, so they nearly break the skin. I shouldn’t have to try to file the edges smooth.(3) You cannot buy a package of more than one of the same size, and I think having to pay $15 every time they fall off and disappear is a rip-off.They’re not visually obtrusive, which I like, but the sizing is difficult to estimate and VERY hard to read on the band itself. I don’t recommend using them while cooking, because they will slip off when rinsing/washing your hands frequently. Don’t use them with rubber gloves on either; they will disappear. only use them on dry hands.A good basic design that they could perfect. Steep price for a piece of plastic! Buy several at once because you will probably lose it once you get used to wearing it, and then you’ll be frustrated at paying $15 + shipping/tax and having to do without it for several days. So, potentially $45 for back-up splints - 3 bits of plastic.

Thumb Splint is a Miracle Worker
Swear on my life that this is not a paid review.I had almost no use of my right hand. My thumb was so inflamed, it felt like someone was hammering nails into it any time i tried to use it. I have trigger finger in my middle finger, but to have it in the thumb is the worst thing EVER. It was getting locked in the bent position and swell up, and i'd be just writhing. My boyfriend was starting to think i was just being a drama queen, but it was BAD. I learned to do things with my left hand and just a few of my right fingers, and i thought "omg is this my FUTURE?"The doctor did nothing. I was already eating an anti-inflammatory diet and taking lots of turmeric and the occasional ibuprofen. He told me to get a paraffin bath. Been there done that - not a solution by any stretch.I realized i needed to immobilize this thumb, cuz any time i did anything, it would pop into a bent position and i'd be doubled over. Then it would pop back and i'd be doubled over again. Medeival torture, and there's WORK to do.So i got the Oval-8. I didn't want to, but i'd tried compression finger sleeves, and that didn't do the trick. I was trying to save money. This thumb splint is PERFECT. I followed the sizing guidelines and got a 7-8. I've had it on 24/7 for 2 weeks, and i don't want to take it off - it has changed my life!I don't actually know when or if i should take it off. So I'll be finding another doctor who can refer me to the right specialist. If i need a procedure, that's fine. But for now, the Oval-8 thumb splint is my best friend in the world. Kicking myself for being cheap and waiting so long - inflammation is damaging, and needs to be addressed sooner than later.

These Really Work!
My husband and I have used these for multiple functions and they work well for all of them. He has trigger finger in many of his fingers and has worn these for about six months now. His started seeing significant improvement after just a few weeks and now all but one of his fingers have healed. I overextended my thumb and index finger and tried a couple to see if they would help protect them long enough to heal and these did a great job. I am also double-jointed in both thumbs and tend to pop my thumbs entirely too much. I started noticing what I'm assuming is the onset of arthritis from decades of popping, so I tried one of these on each thumb. They don't keep me from popping them but they make me aware of my thumbs so that when I want to pop them subconsciously I now stop myself. The color on these are perfect as well. I've worn them on business trips and at work and they are very discreet.
