It is one of those items that you have to have. It is a satisfactory product and serves the intended purpose of making the ACR EPIRB compliant with USCG requirements.

Fits as required
I have a SeaShelter 3 Cat 1 Bracket for an EPIRB model RLB-36. This HydoFix release unit HRU 9490.1 (expires 2 years from installation) needs a release extension that has two small “ears” on the end. I was unsure if this would fit. It does. It comes with a couple of different ends that attach with a provided pin to fit any ACR SeaShelter.
