Can you adjust/control the temperature of the grill?

No, the grill is preset to a grilling temperature of 446 degrees.

Is the cooking grate/grill non-stick because it's cast aluminium (like Scanpan) or is it coated with a non-stick finish?

The cooking grate is very non-stick and easy to clean. It does seem to be more like cast aluminum. I don't get the impression there is any kind of coating that could flake or peel off.

How is the smoke level from this device?

I have cooked hot dogs, burgers, steaks, chicken and ribs. As for purchased chicken kabobs, its easier to do by removing all of the chicken and veggies from the sticks. Cut the chicken into smaller pieces, but some of the veggie, if too small may drop through the grate. Minimal, if any smoke. As for the fatty foods, they will spatter. I cook on the corner where two counter tops connect, or sometimes on the stove under the fan. More than pleased with this grill.

Is this the same as they are selling on TV for $59.99?

$59.99 just to try it. $250 to $300 full price - and before any accessories. Starts to heat right away? What device doesn't? Show some burgers they deliberately burned in another grill? I dislike this hard, misleading sales technique - it makes me think the product is even more questionable.
