Excellent for the price
Hot– Heats up quick. From room temperature to scalding in about 10 minutes. A ‘how hot?’ temperature dial would be preferred. [Perhaps for the next-level-up version, rather than this: the basic model?] As default-set, I need to wait 10 minutes for my tea to cool enough to drink. Using a kettle, I do not let it get that hot: do not want to burn my tea-leaves.Cold– Yeah, it is cold. But, I don't like cold water. So I never turn on Cold, unless I am expecting guests who might prefer that. [Which I then shut everything off again when they've gone.] Perhaps it is a bit too cold? Perhaps a ‘how cold?’ dial would be pertinent, for the next-level-up version? Again, I am not expecting perfection/exceptional at the cost of ‘cheapest available.’Temperature Conflict– All the internal tanks are interconnected within the fountain. [They all drain into Cold: but perhaps that's just the slope of my floor dripping it that direction, when powered off?] So, if Hot is left on long enough (3+ hours), the heat starts seeping over into Cool and Cold. Hot left always-on requires Cold to then be always-on too: lest you want your Cool to be warm, and your Cold to be tepid. [Leave it to engineers to expect end-users to turn (and leave) everything on, as the only way for it to work ‘properly.’] So then I must question whether that means Hot and Cold are constantly fighting over temperature, the battleground being within Cool, wasting how much electricity?Noise– I keep the entire thing Powered Off most of the time, preferring my drinking water at room temperature. I have the fountain wired to a switch, turn it on only when the water is running low, to prevent hearing the pump run every time I get a drink. It is not terribly loud, but unnecessary to hear. As it stands, given the volume of water the internal tanks store, I only need to power on the pump every third day or so for my drinking water. [Takes 90-120 seconds to refill.] If left on, there's always a high-pitched ‘eeeee’ noise. I suspect that would be the pump keeping itself primed. In a busy house or office nobody would hear it, but here alone in the woods, where one can hear everything, the sound grates on the nerves.Potential Problem– This fountain keeps pumping nothing, does not auto-shut-off, when the water-bottle runs out. The longest I left it ‘huffing air’ was 20 minutes, just to see if it would stop, as I didn't want to burn out the motor. So, what happens if you get a drink on the way out the door in the morning and thereby it runs out of water? Will it keep pumping nothing all day? I suspect that would kill it.Overall– Excellent. Looks classy. Works well for what it was designed. Five Stars. Would buy again, recommend to others.

Beware BAD TASTE to any water persists permanently, after initial soap cleaning!
This was a very disappointing experience, considering how well the actual functions worked (hot water, cold and cool water) and the ease of bottom loading. The water had a distinct chemical (toluen/benzene solvent like) aftertaste from DAY 1- no amount of soap /water, vinegar:water, citrate cleaning packet, or charcoal packets in the reservoir could remove it. I kept using it awhile thinking "eventually the chemicals will flush out." -Nope!We use Poland Spring water primarily (until Primo destroyed that delivery service in MA), and now Monadnock, and both waters taste fine using a simple gravity dispenser. Put the same water through our unit - and awful taste.Contacted support: they need model number, date of purchase, another ID number and a hoste of questions - which they wanted ALL OVER again in their reply to my ticket. What's the point of typing in all these details with my initial complaint? I don't keep a centralized file of all my home appliances or have the time to repeat things as an overtasked neuroradiologist in a busy vacation seacoast area.here is their partial reply"To fully understand the issue with your cooler and what may be causing it, I just have a few questions about the cooler. This information will not only help me determine the cause of the issue but also how to correct it as quickly and as easily as possible.- How long have you had the water cooler? When did this issue begin?- How often do you clean the cooler internally? "Here is my 2nd response (of 3 total), reiterating the 1st email:"The cooler was bought new from Amazon April 2025I cleaned it initially with soap and waterIt has had the odd taste since we bought it - it was very mild at first, so i gave it time. Now it is very bad.If you read my initial e-mail, I mentioned I spent 2 days in a row this August cleaning it with vinegar, then citrate solutions."At that point I realized that this particular Chinese company likely wanted to avoid replacing the unit by blaming me for the taste, instead of giving good customer service.Prove me wrong Avalon! I welcome good support.

Work well but thermostat stopped working.
Edit: The manufacturer contacted me and offered to replace the water dispenser at no cost. It promptly arrive in excellent condition. The dispenser works well, including hot and cold water. Perhaps the one I had had a fluke and this one will last a lot longer. Overall, great customer service and I believe they will do right if their product doesn’t work as expected. The unit's thermostat stopped working, and the water tank has continued to freeze almost two years after purchase. Conveniently, the manufacturer only offers a one-year warranty. This means we can only use hot and regular temperature water. Thankfully, the unit has a switch to turn off the cold water, but it's disappointing that we can't use the cold water; otherwise, it would freeze the tank, and the unit wouldn't dispense any water. They responded quickly to my inquiries but could only offer a $15 thermostat replacement for me to install myself or a 15% discount on a new unit. I have not yet decided whether to buy the replacement thermostat and install it myself or accept the idea that it won't dispense cold water. I am certain I do not want to buy a second one because I am afraid it will break again.
