Closer to Painting
I ordered these twice here for my first graders. 2nd time tool a bit longer....but did finally arrive. Good quality and we have created 4 images with them. (One set is for my partner teacher) And yes, this public teacher paid out of pocket. And yes, he finished work went up in our art fair. It is wonderful to see them use this medium as well as they have-it is closer to paint and I might not have believed first graders could do such beautiful work. These oil pastels are not quite as soft as I like, but pretty close. I just finished fruit in bowl still life works with the children and they blended them so well. Q-tips went well. So here's an idea or two. Take a few Georgia O'Keefe flowers in prints to your class or child. I , personally, like the poppies. I get the images from calendars. Students then replicate with oil pastels, or after viewing look closely at real flowers and make "inspired" images. Another project that worked well with my first was load a bowl with fruit, use these to make images, in this case I used pink paper-it worked wonderfully. White oil pastel clouds, or a sunset would be awesome to make.Ohhh love thinking of making a tree at dusk image. When I used to work a lot with oil pastels I worked in very warm rooms, or kept them a bit warm to soften them, it depends on how you want to blend. But the old tricks are still good ones and we did one of our drawings on a hot day. Got wonderful results.

Great product
This is a great classroom pack of oil pastels. The oil pastels are big enough that they don't break easily and sturdy enough that you can color with them and apply pressure when drawing, that you get a very nice coloring out of them, without breaking them. I was very pleased with them after a few weeks of use by multiple students. I will buy this product again.

Some of the crayons were broken. The packaging should have been more durable.
I am a school teacher and have been needing a class set of oil pastels. This is a great set! It was perfect for the holiday projects we did.

Surprisingly creamy and easy to blend
Surprisingly creamy and easy to blend. Lots of fun to use, especially with my toddler. There are double the amount of black and white pastels which amazing for blending. They blend/mix well using stumps and tortillions, but I didn't have as much success thinning and blending the colors together with turpenoid and a brush. Not professional grade but still very fun and pretty effective.

I bought these for my 4 grandsons to use and share. They love them and use them all the time. And there is no arguing over who gets to use what colour since there are so many choices. They arrived in perfect condition and as always, quickly.

I got this for my classroom as I didn't want to have to share art supplies with other classes during covid and I'm very pleased. I think that these pastels are actually better quality than the ones in the art room!
