Quiet, efficient
My last AC unit was much louder than this one. Hoping that this one will last much longer than my last one (keystone) 06/14/25. Easy to install with another person, fairly simple instructions, and works with the temperature control. Quickly (3-5hrs) cooled my 700 sq ft apartment from 78°F to 72°F. For the negative reviews: Through the wall AC unit will create noise. This one is quieter than my last keystone one and the one before that ( brand I don't recall) It does require a ±240V outlet with two prongs that are in line with each other, along with a ground. The prongs flats are towards the ground in a straight line. For the negative reviews: All AC units, especially through the wall and maybe window units create noise. This one, in my experience, is quieter. It does require an appliance 240V outlet. This unit does not provide heat only good cold air conditioning

Design Flaw - Overheats
I had the same experience as Matt Punk. Sadly, I bought the unit over Memorial Day and didn't use it for weeks because it wasn't warm enough so I didn't notice the design flaw until it got into the 90's with high humidity. Now my return window has expired. It overheats and shuts down with the error code CH34. LG's website suggests that the error code relates to the coils being dirty or the unit needs shade from the sun. Well, the coils are not dirty because it is brand new and the sun doesn't hit that side of the building. Plus we only run it at night because it's in our bedroom. I called LG customer service and they tried to tell me the same thing. She finally agreed to send someone out to look at the unit and the repairman arrived yesterday. He told me that he sees tons of CH34 error codes on units that are in a sleeve and proceeded to tell me that the sleeve is the problem (it is old). However, when he pulled out the unit he admitted that the louvers for the heat to escape are substantial enough and that it really shouldn't be overheating. He actually told me that if I had purchased a Frigidaire or Friedrich, we most likely would not have this problem. I think that the fan in the unit that blows the hot air out does not blow hard enough for the air to leave the sleeve so it just stays inside resulting in the overheating. Not a defect, said the repairman, so we are stuck. The design of this air conditioner is flawed. He also told me that LG is aware of the problem, but doesn't want to go through the hassle and expense of a recall. You will regret spending your money on this. I sure do. Incidentally, we have a Frigidaire in the living space and it has the same sleeve conditions as in our bedroom. No problems whatsoever.

Measure, measure, measure before ordering.
Very happy with this purchase. Placed it in the apartment above our garage in the existing opening after removing the old unit. It worked for fit and the cord is more than long enough to reach the plug. The fellows who did the install did a really nice job. Keeps the room very cool and comfortable according to our houseguests (haven’t had need of the heater just yet for guests). Looks good.no leakage, room smells nice, and the remote control works fine. It was very heavy and took 2 younger adult men (we are well past the definition of young unless you compare us to a centenarian, then we’re young).

A reasonable wall A/C
Unlike some of the other reviews, my unit arrived via UPS in fine shape. The packaging was robust and in tact. It was dropped off two days late by a pair of UPS employees who informed me “It’s heavy.” They were correct. I scooted it inside and enlisted friends to help me get it upstairs and into the wall to replace en existing, super noisy unit. The awful instructions will not accommodate all wall sleeves. Ours are 31 years old and are much taller than any of the newer styles. The instructions do not outline WHY you should place a small piece of foam here or there, instead opting for tiny diagrams and poor English. Explaining a little bit of the why is very helpful to those of use who are mechanically inclined. Only after getting all the foam in place inside the sleeve did I realize the new LG is 4”+ shorter than the wall sleeve. What a pain. It looks like they designed the buttons to be used while looking down at them. Our unit is mounted high on the wall and you must hold the remote up as high as you can and angle it downward to get it to work. The bottom of the temperature setting readout is obscured because it’s angled upward. Overall it is a quiet unit. The interior fan is loud on speed 3, but that’s expected. The compressor makes a thud when it turns on or off but is otherwise quiet in operation. The front grate rattles intermittently because it’s a poor design and cheap plastic. The clean filter light illuminates every 2ish weeks because it counts 250 hours of unit on time, not running time. The coarse dust filter hasn’t been dirty yet. In energy saver mode it may not run the compressor for hours if the room temperature is acceptable. The fan comes on briefly every 3 minutes to check if the room needs more cooling while in energy saver mode. This is nice because it’s not wasting electricity but also annoying because it’s always there as a reminder of how long you’ve been lying there at night trying to fall asleep. Temperature control is fine. Setting it to energy saver and 69°F renders a high of 74°F and a low of 72°F. This very acceptable since I don’t want it cooler than 72° anyway. The unit pumps out cold, cold air and the fan moves plenty of that cold air. Overall it works well and is relatively quiet. It had given us no problems for the whole summer. It needs better instructions, a tiltable control surface and higher quality exterior components to garner that fifth star.

It is a high-quality product at a reasonable price.
I bought this LG through-the-wall air conditioner to replace my old window unit that was noisy and inefficient. I am very happy with my purchase. This air conditioner is quiet, powerful, and easy to use. It cools my bedroom quickly and evenly, and keeps the temperature and humidity at a comfortable level. It has three cool and fan speeds, and a remote control that lets me adjust the settings from anywhere in the room. It also has an energy saver mode that saves me money on my electricity bill. The installation was not too difficult, as it fits most standard wall sleeves. The unit came with a trim kit and a mesh grille that make it look neat and sleek. The filter is washable and reusable, and the unit has a filter light reminder that tells me when to clean it. The unit also has an auto-restart feature that resumes the operation after a power outage. I think this is a great product for anyone who needs a reliable and versatile through-the-wall air conditioner. It is a high-quality product at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend it!

Efficient and useful
Second time buying this, the first one i've had for 5 years and works like a charm in my bedroom. So decided to get a second one for the other room. I think it works best for medium to small rooms, it has an energy saver mode which helps regulate the cooling and then changes it to a fan mode once the temperature has been met/adjusted. overall love it, its great for the price. Design looks great too. in terms of noise, you can hear it working for sure, but it switches around so it'll go quieter after a certain point and then rev back up again when it goes back to cooling mode. No water leakage.

Do NOT by this A/C - Learned my lesson the hard way... (can I give this negative stars???)
I recently purchased 2 of these a/c's here on Amazon. When I received them, the packaging was almost destroyed and one of the a/c's didn't work (Ironically, the one that did work was the one in which the packaging was completely soaked and falling apart). I returned the non-functioning a/c and received a new one promptly from Amazon. This a/c also did not work. The first faulty a/c's compressor would kick in, but the fan didn't work rendering it useless. The next faulty a/c's fan worked, but not the compressor. Amazing... SIDE NOTE: I did call LG to see if they could do something about this (I had read that LG is notorious for bad wiring and that a simple wiring connection in the panel could fix the issues). They got all of my information (including the model # and model information - I corrected the guy on the phone 3 times that it is a 9800 BTU unit, not a 10,000 BTU) and they sent a repairman out. He walked in, took one look and said that he wasn't allowed to touch the unit because it's under 10,000 BTU's. So, LG is not helpful at all when it comes to their products. Glad I took the day off from work to be home for the repairman... I've now returned the a/c outright, but kept the functioning unit. However, the working A/C is now starting to have issues just a couple of months after installing it. The compressor keeps vibrating at random intervals causing a loud metallic clanking sound. It's now woken us up several times in the middle of the night. I'll be contacting LG to see if they'll do anything about this sense it is now outside of Amazon's range of return. But, I know how that went last time. yay... (Will try and update here when I've talked to LG). With the knowledge I have now, I wish I had never purchased these units and will definitely NEVER be purchasing an LG A/C ever again. ANOTHER SIDE NOTE: When returning to Amazon I was initially charged a restocking fee citing that the unit was damaged (Amazon graciously reversed this charge and I've now received a full refund). They didn't say what the damage was (other than a non-functioning product), but, I did notice on all 3 of the units I received that the black metal grate on the back was bent (this is my only guess as to physical damage). This is due to the fact that #1 - it's very flimsy metal, and #2 the packaging. There's nothing in the packaging to keep this metal from bending. A slight shift during shipping and delivery would easily bend this. So, if you order this (and I hope you don't) check it when you receive it and take a picture and immediately send it to amazon. That way if you have to return it, you've already made a note of it with them. Save yourself the hassle, spend a little more and buy a Frigidaire or something better. You won't regret it.

Works just the way we need it to.
I ordered this to replace a broken through the wall unit in our finished basement. Our existing wall unit was slightly smaller than this unit so I had to order the LG wall sleeve and install that first. Everything was smooth and easy and I am no Bob the builder. The unit works great and I have had a chance to check both the heat option and the air conditioning option due to our crazy weather this year and both work as expected and to my satisfaction. The manual included the part number for the wall sleeve which made ordering that wall sleeve super easy. I do not find this unit any louder than any other wall unit I have had in the past and i would actually say its quieter than the Kenmore unit that was in there before this one. The basement area we are heating/cooling is fairly large and includes a living area, bedroom area, laundry room and bathroom and this is able to cool that large area with ease. Great unit, very happy with our purchase. **Edited to add** We have now been in one of the hottest heat waves I remember in years and this unit has done fantastic! We stay nice and cool.
