Great Game (and Customer Service)! But Not for Windows 10
My husband and daughter were so excited to find this game - THEIR FAVORITE of all time. I'm unsure if my husband has ever purchased something so quickly in his life. Once we received the game, we made quick work to install - only to find out that this game doesn't work on Windows 10. AT ALL. *Cue super sad depresso husband and daughter.* I reached out to the seller immediately to let them know that this game simply wouldn't work with our computer and asked if they would refund (knowing that this game had been opened and they didn't need to refund at all). BUT they refunded our cost immediately. GREAT customer service. I'm so glad I reached out - and hope this review is helpful to someone else. (I'd honestly buy from this company again simply for their amazing customer service)

Awful...
I owned this game at one point but it was sold on accident when we moved. I used to play this game all the time and to this day it remains one of my favorites. I had a hard time finding this game for less than $100(which is ridiculous in itself since the game was no more than $70 when it first came out) so when I found it for less than $50 I was pretty excited. I was very disappointed when I got the game because of one fatal error. There are 7 disks for the PC version (all are needed for installation of the game) and as I counted them off realized they only shipped me 6 of them. I emailed the seller and didn't get a response until 3 days later. I was told they had no more of the product in stock and to send it back and I'd get a refund. There's a couple things I don't get about this. For starters how can they sell a product and not have the entire thing? Either they didn't check the case when it was sold to them or the new owner decided to take it for a spin and didn't put the disk back in the case before it was shipped to me. I started my summer job which is takes place 7 days a week so I didn't have a chance to send it back till a couple weeks after I was told to send it back and I have yet to see my refund in my bank account. Honestly at this point I really don't care and I'm just worn out by the ordeal. I thought that maybe I'd get another shot and owning one of my favorite games of all time but apparently that's too much to ask for. Thanks for nothing perfectcd1. By the way that disk that was missing was disk 1 so you may want to consider a new username.

I love the game
I love the game, there are three main single player modes. War of the Ring, which is a risk like mode. In which you build amies, and your bases. The main goal of the game is to wipe the other factions out, or take there capital region. In this mode once you have a battle you have two options. Real time the battle, which is the one I would say to use, due to uses this option you win usually. Then there is the other option which is auto resolve the battle. In this mode you can build any units, or buildings that you can when you are in the battle. But you cqn not upgrade the units on the map, plus troops you build in the battles will not show up on the map. Now the campaign, there are two campaigns, the evil campaign and the good campaign. In the good campaign you play as the elves, and the dwarfs. In the evil campaign you play as the Orcs, and goblins. There are 8 missions for the good, and bad campaigns. Now there are six factions, but you will not play as the men of the west, or Isgard. Make your own hero is where you can make your own hero. You can play as him in regular maps, but now in the campaign or in the war of the ring mode. The game is z lot of fun, and brings a lot of fun to the rts genre.

Play on Windows 7 with these instructions
The most common google question associated with this game is if it can be played with Windows 7. Yes, it can but you will need to follow some instructions first. 1) Install the game. 2) Navigate to the folder C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth Files\ 3) It is likely empty, which is the source of win7 issues with the game. If it is, create a new notepad file named Options.ini (manually save it with the .ini extension) Make the contents of the file what I put between "===" (do not include the ===) === AudioLOD = Low HasSeenLogoMovies = yes IdealStaticGameLOD = VeryLow Resolution = 800 600 StaticGameLOD = VeryLow TimesInGame = 1 === Create a new directory "Maps" inside C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth Files\ You should now be good to play! Do NOT set the game for Compatability Mode - that will give a "Incorrect Disc" error. Source: [...] I followed these steps and it worked right away! As for the game itself, I love RTS's and LOTR so it is something I fell in love with at first glance. That said, save your money and buy it used. It's good, but no game is ever 200 dollars good. (Well okay I bought a 3DS just for Fire Emblem but you have no idea how much I love that series...) Just be sure to check the used descriptions carefully! You need ALL six discs to install so if one is missing you're screwed. In my case, the CD Key was in the manual so you will probably want that! If the manual is not included ask the seller if the CD Key is included.

Received product as described. It was delivered on time and packaged well. This game is a classic as I'm a fan of the LoTR universe. Too bad these titles are only available second hand.
