Saved my instant pot—At least I thought it did
I’ve got a 5 qt instant pot. I’ve had it awhile and now they are not the most common size. But all of my accessories fit this pot. And a new pot is expensive, so I wanted to save this one. This valve just went out. I used it one evening for dinner and the next night it would not seal. It wasn’t too hard to figure out what happened. I found this part easily. It came quickly. I put it on and it worked. It was a very easy replacement. I appreciate that.Later—after the move. So I was moving when I put the valve in. It popped right in, no problem. Just as I wrote earlier. I popped it in, put it in the box, packed it up nice and tight—safe and sound…. So a couple of months ago, I pull it out to make baked potatoes. It’s the only way to do potatoes now. The valve is still there….and….the lid won’t close. There is some sort of flat piece that has to pass over the valve in order for the lid to lock. So, back to the drawing board, so to speak.1) is my appliance an Instant Pot—check2) is my Instant Pot 5 Qt? No. It’s a 6 Qt. Who knew?! But this valve is supposed to be for a 5 or a 6 QT LUX. So check mark anyway.3) is my instant Pot a Lux model? It seems to make a difference. Well, the model number is IP—LUX60. I feel safe making the assumption that it is indeed a LUX. Check, check, and check. So I look it up AGAIN on Amazon. It brings up my choices. I pick the most obvious one—oh look! There’s a “You Purchased” banner at the top. Did Amazon send the wrong valve? I ordered it again. Re wives it in the mail today, AND……it doesn’t work!!!! It won’t seat so that the thingy-thing can’t pass over the top and seal the pot! It also will not pass over the pot if I leave off the silicone gasket dealt that secures it inside the lid.So now what??Instant Pot, if I have to buy another instant pot, it won’t be one of yours.Ohhhhhhhh—-figured it out. This says it fits the LUX 6, then it says it does NOT fit the LUX60….V3!!!!! Seriously!! You can’t make this up. This valve fits every other instant pot 6QT on the planet except my IP—LUX60–V3. The first rule of appliance making SHOULD BE easily replaced parts. You suck, instant pot.
