Fantastic world-building and eerily prescient!
Just finished reading this amazing graphic novel series written by Warren Ellis and penciled by Darick Robertson. Transmetropolitan follows journalist Spider Jerusalem through The City, a semi-dystopian future version of America. The world-building is compelling and unbelievably detailed, with art so intricate that I often stared at panels for minutes on end soaking up visual information. I'd love to cite details, but much of the fun is coming to this world blind. The story is over the top and so are the characters, yet it has something relevant to say thatβs also disturbingly prescient. Transmetropolitan ran from 1997 to 2002, but many characters and story lines seem ripped out of US news from the last several years. More than once I rechecked the copyright dates because the parallels were just too eerie. While the tone is cynical, blackly satirical (and only very rarely dips into the puerile), the overall thrust of Transmetropolitan is a paean to free speech, the free press, individuality, and democracy. Captivating and thoroughly entertaining piece of work.

An end to a great series
This collection was/is great although I think the first two were by far the best. It implies some current events into the story without naming people and is a good well thought out story.

A masterpiece
The series culminates so well, and the originality and character of the world and the characters is unforgettable.
