so there's little to no magnetic mechanism on this but at least it works to cover the exposed part. i think it would actually be useless without the added plastic part that holds it on. just be more careful when moving the pen around.

The magnet on this cap seems slightly weaker than the one from the official original cap, but it doesn't matter because the tether keeps it in place. Far more convenient when charging the pencil than the original design, which is laughably easy to lose.

I scraped my Apple pencil cap and would often misplace it, so the silicone protective case was quite useful. The magnet in this replacement cap is also strong enough so that it does not fall off easily, although it is not quite as strong as the original Apple pencil cap.
