Exit Foggy, Enter Truly
This set is Region 2 so you’ll need a compatible DVD player or a computer if you’re not in region 2. That aside it’s a wonderful collection of episodes that begins with the Christmas special “Extra! Extra!” from 1996. Next up is Series 18 (as listed on IMDB) which is the final series with actor Brian Wilde portraying Foggy Dewhurst. After that is “There Goes The Groom” which is the Christmas special from 1997 and introduces us to Herbert Truelove better known as “Truly of the Yard” portrayed by Frank Thornton who really does a great job with this character. Finally, Series 19 (as listed on IMDB) is also included which is the first full season with Truly as the third man and he would remain with the series until its end. There are some great episodes here and the end of one generation and the beginning of another for Last of the Summer Wine.

For males over 55, my favorite TV series of all time
For me, very personal opinion, only Jeeves and Wooster competes with this series. The complete series is not available in the US format. Since I watch them on a Windows computer, I can fill in the gaps by ordering the versions from the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

great series
We really enjoy British comedies in general. This is our absolute favorite. The situations that these gentlemen continue to get themselves involved in are hilarious. Its nice that there is no vugarity or profanity. Just down right funny.

You've got to buy this!
This is just class.... Series 19-20 provided me with 4 discs to complete my LOSW collection - unfortunately and sadly Foggy only appears on 2 disc (series19) and he is a gem! Frank Thornton then steps in as Foggys replacement for the remaining episodes. It's worth the buy... constantly smiling at classic comedy.

Wonderful
I absolutely love this series. I grew up with it all through my life and like a good wine it mellowed and improved with time. It wasn't the same after Compo's death and this box set has the last complete series with Bill Owen, doing a fantastic job even though he was really very ill by then. It's also notable for saying goodbye to Foggy and hello to Truly.Gentle, innocent and predictable comedy in the most wonderful countryside -- the perfect nostalgic antidote to all the horror and doom and gloom in the world today. It harks back to the days of the true British sitcom.Buy it, and buy the back catalogue too!

The Compo years were the best..
Bought this as after this series without Compo, it just lost its sparkle and the characters were too lack lustre - sad really

Great characters and script with marvellous scenery.
Great to catch up with all those wonderful characters created by Roy Clarke. Another brilliant DVD.

Timeless Television Classic
As someone who's lived all his life on the other side of the pond, I've always been perplexed by how some people aren't fans of LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE. I enjoy the show tremendously; if you looked in the dictionary for a definition of "character comedy" you'd find Compo, Clegg, and Foggy staring right back at you. This DVD collection is a gem!
