It's definitely more on the astringent side. I wouldn't recommend for any color other than a blonder hue.

There is one that says it is gluten-free: Avalon Organics, Gluten-free Cucumber Shampoo & Avalon Organics Gluten-free Cucumber Conditioner. You'd have to check the ingredients on any of the other. The Cucumber specifically states it is gluten-free.
