Buy if you can tend to ants immediately
Seems like reviews are mixed on this so I took that into consideration when buying. I estimated the order time when I thought I’d be home. It worked out and I met the ups dude in the driveway and put these fugggers in the fridge after a few minutes upon arrival.About 8 minutes for the first tube and there were around six dead ones. The other tube was in for right around 10 minutes and they entered the farm in a different spot. It took them awhile to get moving and I thought they all might be dead. All but five from that tube survived.I’m not sure if they’re overstocking the order but I’d estimate I have around 45 live ones who are digging and exploring.Hope some of this helps. I didn’t know anything about ants before I bought this

ANT-tastic!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:My daughter got an ant farm and we ordered ants from another company. It took almost 2 weeks for them to arrive and when they did, all but five were dead. We live in Texas so finding a time when it wasn't too hot was tricky. We found these ants on Amazon and they would arrive in 2 days so we took our chances. I'm happy to report that most of the ants survived and are alert and active. Do be very careful when handling them though. Definitely put them in the fridge for 10 minutes and be ready to put them in your ant farm as soon as they're out of the fridge. We are excited and hopeful to enjoy watching these little critters!

The bite, and it's like a bee sting.
The chewed a hole through the ant farm, escaped into our house, and are now everywhere. The bite, too!!! It feels like a bee sting and leaves a welt. I now have several screaming children with ant bites. DO NOT BUY.

Most are dead
Bought two tubes. One tube was completely dead when I opened the package. The other tube, half died after putting in the fridge for 10 minutes.. the other half are thriving though. Sad that i bought 50 ants and only have 15 alive..

Dont Make My Mistake!
Okay so these suckers are hardy. My son got these to go along with his ant farm for Christmas. It's mid-Feb and they're still kicking even after killing at least most of them when opening the vile. Heed my cautionary tale! So, the printed instructions on the vile are very tiny and the paper that comes with it was flat in the bag so I didn't notice it right away. I was more concerned about getting them oxygen because of the delivery delay. I was fearful they would all be dead. Boy was I wrong!! Had I been less concerned with getting them oxygen I would have maybe noticed the tiny label and its instructions to place them in the fridge first. Anyway, my kiddos ant farm has a tiny hole on top where I figured they were supposed to enter. I did not know you could take the whole top off and figured this must be the way you're supposed to do it so they don't escape. I popped the lid off of the vile and before I could even tip it towards the ant farm they ALL came running out FAST!! Like as soon as they had oxygen suddenly I had a vile of ants that could move like the Flash comic character. Oh and they bite... Did I mention that SEVERAL of these biting ants are now running in every direction in my living room and down my table? Oh Lord it was a mess so I ran immediately without hesitation to the kitchen sink and I tossed the vile into a bowl that was soaking in the sink. It rolled and fell down into the disposal...Yep just my luck! It certainly slowed them but sure didn't stop them. Nope now they're alive in my sink. Needless to say they were moving slower and I was then able to catch the stunned shocked ants individually and scoop them into the ant farm. We rescued about 15 or so of them so it's a darned miracle they are still alive today. Anyway, STICK YOUR ANTS IN THE FRIDGE don't be me! Pretty sure this will be the last time we do the whole ant farm thing lol.

Dead ants
All ants are dead. They were just delivered-right to my front door. They weren’t in a hot mailbox. I literally picked them up 1 minute after they were delivered. In fact it isn’t even showing as “delivered” yet. We have ordered ants 3 other times over the yrs & have never had this happen. Very disappointing
