Q: will this work as a deep well socket?

That's a big flaw if its only .025" deep and won't reach nut. Is there one of these universal sockets that would work if the screw is .05" or .075"?

Q: is this strong enough work automotive work or will I be coming back to rate w/ 1 star?

I use this in many applications, including automotive/mechanics. Like any tool, it has it's limitations. If your looking to break loose fasteners @ 200+ ft lbs., it's likely to fail. Also, avoid impact tools with this & you'll be happy to have in your toolbox
