Very frustrating experience
After setting up a very complete security system with multiple cameras and microphones the audio started cutting out on all channels during live and recorded video. After troubleshooting steps with tech support, they determined the unit should be replaced but said it was out of stock for a few weeks. I was told I would be updated but heard nothing. After 3 weeks I sent emails that were ignored and then called where they started the whole troubleshooting process over again. The tech said he would need to contact the manufacturer for a solution and said he would call me back the next morning. Now they will not respond to any of my request for help and have left me in a situation where I will need to purchase another DVR in order to be able to monitor my property. I would never have bought this brand if I had known it had no warranty and it would waste so much of my time trying to get help.

Great unit, but learn from my experience!
A few things you need to know about this unit -- My shipped with the hard drive in it but not connected. When the system booted up it reported that there was no hard drive. I was not happy. I went out and bought a hard drive then cracked the case open to install it only to find the factory hard drive sitting there inside, simply not hooked up. Save yourself the time and open your case and hook up your drive before you hook up any dongles or cameras. There's 7 small screws that hold the top of the case on. The three across the back are inaccessible once you have cameras and dongles hooked up. The user interface is decent for what I have seen and the recording playback interface is one of the best I have seen compared to others -- and I have seen a LOT of camera systems in my time. Getting it on the network was a breeze, didn't have any issues there where other people have reported problems (on other review sites). The manual says the remote viewer through a web browser only works on IE or Safari on Mac. I was in a rush on one of the computers and accidentally started Chrome and hit the IP and the system came right up. So I can say that it is compatible with the most recent versions of Chrome too. It will not work on an iPad though, but that's ok, I can live with that for the price of this unit. I replaced a few of our lower-end cameras with some nicer ones (still under 100 bucks each) and combined with this head unit both the live picture quality and recorded picture quality was amazing. I highly recommend this unit if you have someone to install it that is experienced. I wish the manufacturer offered an 8-camera and 16-camera version of this system.

Great (NVMS-9000)! So I ordered another one
So I purchased two of these about a week apart. The first one came, I configured it and thought - Wow, they updated the web interface, Great (NVMS-9000)! So I ordered another one, got it and configured it and the web interface was like some of the older models I have had, Hmmm???. So then I start digging around in the system info and find out the first one I ordered had a model number of ED8008TSC, this isn't even an Aposonic device, or at least not that I can tell. The second one I ordered was definitely this model (A-S0801R18S) as I was able to update the firmware from their website. It's really strange that I would get two completely separate models when I supposedly ordered two identical items. I actually REALLY like the web interface of the first model I got - it is super slick and very nice to use!

Pretty good works with Blue Iris and IP CamViewer
Cool DVR with good quality from good HD-TVI Cameras, software is all the same lots of options like any other dvr. I dislike their default mobile software but it is the only software that will reliably and consistently show you your cameras in semi-full HD if you consider quality of the stream.I bought this after leaving zmodo's new line of DVRs which force you to use their app and are solely p2p driven they say, nothing to connect to locally like it used to be, they want you to go out to the net when you're on your own home wifi to come back in, using up bandwidth. The aposonic does not require this, however it can be somewhat tricky to connect to.I use it with IP CamViewer and Blue Iris, took a lot of tinkering AND neither developer of these apps really helped me to get this up and running, they both gave up really quickly. Anyhow through little bits and pieces I can connect using both apps, IP CamViewer requires you use either Q-See QT4516 or Unknown Brand - tv25he.For Blue Iris it was a bit more tricky, the account you use to connect to the DVR must have numeric values for the password or it wont work. I used ProVision-ISR as the make and SA-8/16200AHD (port 6036) as the model, media port 6036 or whatever you set your media port to in the interface.I wanted to write this review because it took me a long time to figure these things out and I have no idea how to tell others about the config. for these applications

This little system started out being quite nice. It had all the features I needed plus some, the new HD-TVI cameras really have a nice picture. However after using it about a month, it died last night. The system will boot to the splash screen showing checking memory, system, disk...waiting...then screen goes black and will not return. I let it set all night thinking it was repairing the file system or something, nothing. Removed the drive, tried it on a working PC, drive is fine. Tried booting without a drive and same thing. Wiped partition on the HD, reinstalled with same result. Tried a different 12V power supply with plenty of amperage. There is no reset jumper on the board, if there is a key combo that does it, it's not in the manual. Coin cell battery is tack welded in. And the remote PC software NVR1000 works great except is corrupts the config of the device apparently. Before it crashed my network setting were garbage, even though I could still access it via network. Guess I shouldnt have rebooted it! Maybe I got a lemon, but I'm still aggravated it quit right outside my return window.
